i have had the flu shot 3 times in my life and have subsequently had the flu 2 of those three times.

I’m not talking about the sniffles here either- I’m talking body in pain, puking hard even though all I have had since breakfast is a sprite, chills and the rest of it.

I also hope that by poasting this thread and whining about it, I wake up feeling fine tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you've got it. But, you'll feel better.

I've never had a flu shot in my life. I had the flu about 11 years ago... really, really bad. I think that episode tempered my immune system for life. I've never even considered getting one. I haven't even had a cold since 2013.

I never get the shot but have only had the flu twice in about the last 20 years. Unfortunately one of those times was this year. It went through the whole family starting a week before Christmas and ending about the second week of January. Good times.

Nothing against the OP, but this is a classic example of people who fill their body full of vaccines having issues with sickness. Anti-biotics and flu-shots are the gateway to poor health.

I’m married to an OR Nurse who is required to take the shot every year and she has never had it

In my professional opinion you got the HIV from your Caribbean trip.

Prairs scent.

I've taken the flu shot once in the last 20 years, only because my GP busted my balls to the point of taking it, and I haven't had the flu. I very rarely have taken anti-biotics for anything, and I don't get sick anymore. Meanwhile, I have friends who tell me I'm stupid for my stance, and they're constantly sick.

I understand your situation with a wife who is a nurse. I'm just telling you about my personal situation.

We don't take it either. Wife is a HS teacher, so she's around all kinds nasty stuff constantly and she refuses the flu shot. Not so much because of the flu virus part of it, rather all the other crap they throw in. Since it's rarely effective against the actual strains that hit and when they DO manage to get the right strain it still isn't all that effective, we just don't see the point.

And the only 2-3 times in my life that I have taken it, I got the flu, including the worst case in my life, which put me out of work for a full 2 weeks.

Half Of Parents Worry Flu Shot Makes Children Sick, Third Believe It Doesn’t Work At All

Now, I'm not going to go to this point and say that the flu shot is a conspiracy like some of these people, but I've just never been a big fan of it myself. I'll probably change my mind as I get older.
What exactly is the point you are trying to make with this article? That other people think it doesn't work?

anti shot for all five of us...there’s really no point unless you’re immune system is compromised or have infants.

i got something four years ago that kept me in bed for six days...i recall begging to get one last night with my wife and one more time outside with the kids, it was so bad...finally went to the doctor and it was flu negative...i’m convinced it was a flu, but i built up immunities, so it’s stayed away, and has since...since that week, i have made sure my hands stay clean as well as educating the kids on how important it is to just wash your hands.

(i’ll be getting the flu in the month now)
