He can definitely have that type of role, maybe more at some point down the road ? Just thinking he may want a larger role, and is a candidate for the portal at some point as well.I don’t get the shaver hate… sure, he’s not UNC starter material, but he obviously wants to be a heel, and maybe for some kids that’s enough.
UNC basketball history is filled with guys who’ve stayed with the team for 4yrs, backed up the stars and provided the unselfish presence that no team will get from a top 100 talent.
I used to say the same about Desmond Hubert, Joel James, mike Copeland, Byron sanders etc etc.
The roster can’t all be top 4-5* talent.
Totally agree. This young man has a lot of talent he just needs to get his body in shape and keep working hard in practice. He is FamilyI pray the youngster heals swiftly and completely!
He is Family and a great addition to the team! Thanks for your dedication, Mr. Shaver!
100% to all of this. And it's not like Hubert is giving him significant minutes compared to some of the other guys named. Hubert has shown himself a capable recruiter so far, so the days of praying bench players turn into starters should be over.I don’t get the shaver hate… sure, he’s not UNC starter material, but he obviously wants to be a heel, and maybe for some kids that’s enough.

I wouldn't call it hate for the kid, I think it is simple assessment with the feeling that there are a lot of programs he could go to where he would maybe be a starter, at least get solid PT and many, myself included do not really see that as a reality for him at UNC. Now don't confuse this, I am not in any way advocating for the kid to leave, not wanting him in any way to be pushed out the door. Just saying if that is what he decides to do and I think he will at some point, I would not blame him or suggest it was a bad decision.I don’t get the shaver hate… sure, he’s not UNC starter material, but he obviously wants to be a heel, and maybe for some kids that’s enough.
