The folks on pecker head pride are in a "snit" about this:

ACC
Average Academic Rank: 110

Duke, seventh in the college rankings, is another place for elite minds and lousy football. In fact, none of the school’s intellectual elite—the conference has eight of the top 75 colleges nationally, more than any other league—have been among the few best on the field in the last decade. That’s because the league has been ruled by Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Louisville, none of which crack the top-100 in academics.

College WSJ/THE College Rank Conf. Win % (Since 2006)
Duke 7 .293
North Carolina 30 .518
Miami 37 .500
Georgia Tech 51 .595
Wake Forest 54 .398
Virginia 56 .370
Pittsburgh 59 .538
Boston College 63 .446
Syracuse 106 .269
North Carolina State 143 .383
