Zac Selmon Hired As Associate Athletic Director--And Back to OK!

CHAPEL HILL - Zac Selmon, associate director of athletics development at the University of Oklahoma, is joining the University of North Carolina staff as Associate A.D. and Special Assistant to Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham.
Selmon's duties at Carolina will include the monitoring and tracking of the athletic department's strategic plan, representing the director of athletics at meetings and on committees, assisting with internal communications, serving as liaison with external groups such as the ACC, NCAA and NACDA, and administering the department's executive and senior staff meetings.
Selmon played tight end and was a four-time member of the Dean's List while attending Wake Forest, where he majored in religion and international studies. He earned his master's in education with an emphasis in intercollegiate athletics administration from Oklahoma in 2010.
Selmon has worked in the Sooners' athletic department for five years, including the last three years as associate director of athletics development when he handled major gifts, stewardship and donor relations, the athletics endowment program and the athletics diversity program. He helped collect $46 million in pledges for major gifts, raised funds for the Headington Hall Housing Center, worked on capital funding for various athletic facilities and helped generate record levels in annual giving in four consecutive years.
While a student at Wake Forest, he co-founded the Shine Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving those in need with an emphasis on children's projects in West Africa. The foundation has raised more than $250,000 and built an elementary school at an orphanage in Liberia.
The Norman, Okla., native started for four seasons for the Demon Deacons (2004-07) and was a member of the 2006 ACC champions that played in the Orange Bowl. He was a four-time member of the ACC Honor Roll, a two-time Academic All-ACC selection and two-time finalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, which is given to the college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.Selmon begins his duties at UNC on July 28th.
