Those who receive a shot will receive two tickets to upcoming football game

Carolina Athletics and Campus Health at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are partnering to offer free COVID-19 vaccines this Saturday, September 11, prior to the 24th-ranked Tar Heels’ football game against Georgia State.

The Vaccination Station Tents will be located between Gates 5 and 6 outside of Kenan Stadium near Campus Health from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Moderna, Pfizer and J&J vaccines will be available, and anyone who receives a COVID-19 inoculation will also receive two free tickets to an upcoming Carolina home football game: vs. Duke (Oct. 2), Florida State (Oct. 9), Miami (Oct. 16), Wake Forest (Nov. 6) or Wofford (Nov. 20).

“We need to do everything we can to keep each other safe, and that includes getting vaccinated for COVID-19 – and encouraging others to get vaccinated, as well,’’ said Carolina Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham. “We appreciate partnering with Campus Health to offer this important service as we welcome our fans back to Kenan Stadium.”

This service is intended for first shots of the J&J vaccine, or a first or second shot of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines – not for booster shots. Those receiving a second shot of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine must bring their vaccine card so it can be properly completed by Campus Health.

“Vaccinations and masks are the most effective tools we have to accomplish our number one goal: keeping ourselves, our families, our loved ones and our community safe,” said Ken Pittman, executive director of Campus Health.

Vaccination opportunities on football gamedays may also be available at future games.

COVID-19 vaccines have been shown to be highly effective at preventing people from getting COVID-19 and preventing serious illness. Carolina Athletics, Campus Health and the University also require people to wear masks indoors, strongly encourage wearing masks during outdoor events, and recommend washing or sanitizing your hands regularly.
