CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina junior right-hander Reilly Hovis underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday morning and will miss the remainder of the 2015 season. The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews.
Hovis, who made just two appearances in 2015, was a first-team All-ACC relief pitcher for Carolina last season. The Gastonia, North Carolina, native won a team-best nine games and saved six as a sophomore in 2014. Hovis struck out 81 batters and walked just 24 in 64.0 innings and finished the year with a 2.25 ERA.
