"As Saban stares down what could be his seventh national title with the Crimson Tide, he does so with his seventh offensive coordinator in the past 11 years and his ninth overall. Remarkably, Saban has won national titles with five different offensive coordinators."

How can that be? The maxim most live by is that continuity of staff is a MUST. Many fail to see that the alleged wisdom is always in the mouths of those HCs and ADs who wish to excuse their failures to remove less than top notch staffs. Just like players, staff members who fail tomproduce at top levels must be replaced or else the program will become set in mediocre stone. Saban always draws coaches who wants to learn how to master the craft, and Saban always is ready to find them a spot, usually starting as off the field help.

What we saw this year at Bama is the most dramatic change on the offensive side during a season in Saban history. And that goes to 1st year HC Tommy Rees. He di not just oversee making adjustments during games; he did the far more difficult thing to overhaul the offense before third of the season w south so that Bama could one again be in the hunt for a National Championship. He could wait for another recri=uiting class or two. It ws either get this Dione with Xs and Os now, or we could be a 9-3 team.

Rees now has Saban experience. He previously had Kelly experience. He is a Notre Dame grad. He is, because of ND ties, the type big time OC who could get approved by the UNC Powers That Be as HC. I can see them all turning up their news at UGA DC Glenn Schumann, but ND is ND. Art Chansky and other Chapel Hill types who turn up their noses at SEC football while loving Sally Brown and seeing Mack as about as unoffensive to them as possible short of an Ivy League football coach with an Ivy League degree will have a hard time being openly opposed to an ND guy like Rees. Bubba's ND formation actually could do some good for UNC football if he could bring Rees on.

I'd trade Mack for a ton of different coaches. Rees is an interesting name and Glenn schulman for sure.

Bama isn't a great comp though generally due to the amazing recruits and massive quantity of advisors.
