For the ACC, the most important is VT at Louisville, in a battle between 2nd place teams. That's right sports fans, all those who took comfort that Brent Pry could take a decade to dig VT out of its hole, because he certainly is no Mack Brown, either have not looked closely at the standings or else are now wide-mouthed in surprise. Without a single recruiting class to stand next to what Mack has brought to Chapel Hill repeatedly, Pry actually has the Hokies playing up to their potential - in the middle of his 2nd season as HC anywhere. And that is a most salient point in evaluating each coach: Pry right now in his 2nd season at VT still has less HC experience than Mack Brown had before he ever coached a down for UNC in first go around - when Mack led UNC to back to back 1-10 teams, worst in school history.
Of course, the Hokies have done something fairly common in ACC football history: win within the league and look like absolute crap vs. OOC teams. So VT being tied for 2nd in the ACC right now really makes the league look bad. And the fact is that now, easily the best thing for ACC football is for FSU and Louisville to win out and square off in the ACC Championship 12-0 vs. 11-1. If that were to be the case and UNC could finish 10-2, then UNC would get a bowl really worth playing.
