Greensboro, N.C. – Highlighted by ACC Freshman of the Year, first team All-ACC and All-Freshman team selection Aaron Sabato, four total Tar Heels earned All-ACC honors, as announced by the ACC league office Monday afternoon.

Junior Michael Busch was also named to the All-ACC first team, junior Tyler Baum earned his first All-ACC nod as a starting pitcher on the third-team while Danny Serretti joined Sabato on the All-Freshman team.

A native of Rye Brook, N.Y., Sabato having one of the best freshman seasons in recent Carolina Baseball history. He is the first freshman since 2009 to hit more than 10 home runs in a season and his 13 home runs are currently tied for second most by a freshman in Carolina history, only trailing Chad Flack's 15 home runs during his freshman campaign in 2005. Sabato also led the team in batting average during conference play (.358), and is the first freshman to do that since Colin Moran was named ACC Freshman of the year in 2011. He currently leads the team in batting average (.339), hits (65), doubles (20), home runs (13), RBIs (54), total bases (126) and slugging percentage (.656). The freshman has eight mulit-hit outings in his last nine games, including becoming the first Tar Heel since 2012 to hit for the cycle when he did so on Thursday May 16 against NC State. He is the seventh Tar Heel to be named the ACC Freshman of the Year joining Brian Roberts (1997), Adam Greenberg (2000), Daniel Bard (2004), Dustin Ackley (2007), Colin Moran (2011) and Ashton McGee (2017).

Michael Busch joins the first team as an outfielder after being named to the All-ACC second team as a first baseman in 2018. During his junior campaign, the native of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., is third on the team in batting average (.281) and has hit 12 home runs, becoming the first Tar Heel to have back-to-back season with 10 or more home runs since Chad Flack did so from 2005-2006. Splitting time between left field and first base, he leads the team in runs scored (63) and walks (54) and is one of two Tar Heels with 50 or more RBIs this season.

Tyler Baum has been a key piece of the Carolina rotation for the last two seasons, and is enjoying one of his best in a Tar Heel uniform. The junior from Ocoee, Fla., is 7-3 on the season with a 3.91 ERA and 82 strikeouts with only 22 walks in 13 appearances. His best outing of the year came against Duke on March 29 when he threw 8.2 shutout innings while only conceding two hits and striking out six Blue Devils. He ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts.

After starting the year at second base, freshman Danny Serretti has excelled after moving over to shortstop for the Tar Heels. The Berkeley Heights, N.J., native is the first freshman under head coach Mike Fox to have two games with five or more hits in a single season and the first Tar Heel to do so since Dustin Ackley in 2009. He is currently second on the team in overall batting average (.289), finished second in conference batting average (.282) and has 16 doubles on the season to go with three home runs.
