DURHAM, N.C. --- The Durham Bulls, in conjunction with the athletic departments of the University of North Carolina and NC State University, announced Tuesday a one-time neutral site showdown between the two national baseball powers at the newly renovated Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Duel at the DBAP will be the lone regular season meeting between the Tar Heels and Wolfpack, taking place on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.

The midweek, non-conference game will be the latest installment in a storied rivalry that has ascended to national prominence. After both teams were featured on a preseason Baseball America cover shot at the DBAP last spring, the matchup reached fever pitch on May 25, 2013 when the two squads met in a round-robin game of the ACC Baseball Championship at the DBAP. The battle turned out to be the longest game in ACC Tournament history, a marathon 2-1, 18-inning victory for the Tar Heels. That epic clash took place in front of 11,392 fans, the largest crowd ever to watch a college baseball game in the state of North Carolina.

"I'm excited for our players and coaches to have the opportunity to play this game at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. College baseball is growing and thriving in this area and I think you've seen evidence of that with the huge crowds we've played in front of at the last two ACC tournaments," said Mike Fox, UNC's head coach. "We are looking forward to another great turnout by Tar Heel fans all season and on April 15."

NC State won a coin flip to earn the designation as the game's home team and will play out the DBAP's first base dugout.

Tickets for the Duel at the DBAP on April 15 will be $10 and are on sale now at durhambulls.com. Group tickets for parties of 20 or more and hospitality areas are available and can be purchased by calling the Bulls group sales team at 919.956.BULL ext. 2.
