Looks like the NCAA will avoid the expected 4 billion dollar pay out for athletes deprived of NIL earning from 2017 - 2021 by agreeing to pay 2.7 billion to them.

Even more substantial is the agreed future revenue sharing for upcoming seasons with athletes. It seems that a 20 million dollar salary cap will be set for power 4 schools to compensate athletes for choosing their program to play for. The 20 million or so cap being set as a percentage from the average revenue for those power 4 teams.

The UNC Board of Trustees approved an audit of the school's athletic department Monday amid concerns and anger over the Tar Heels' revenue, management, and changes to college sports. It should be noted we never reported UNC had moved on from Lubin like pretty much everyone else did. We reported he wasn't the absolute main priority when he left campus last week without visiting.

But, we had a commitment story and podcast during his visit and never deleted them, because it was still simmering a tad bit. Then, two nights ago, we reported talks resumed and were getting very warm again.

"You may think I'm crazy, but I told my staff I only want to have eight or nine guys," Calipari told Robinson, who is now executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. "They're leaving anyway, and why would I develop a kid for someone else? Why would I do that?"

Calipari said he wants to use the other roster spots for walk-ons and rely on those non-scholarship players and graduate assistants to help the team prepare for its opponents next season.

"I want those [graduate assistants] to have played in Europe or just got done playing and can still play," he said. "We can use them in practice. The women's programs have five guys that they call 'managers,' but that's who they scrimmage against. Maybe I do it that way. We have some walk-ons, we have some [graduate assistants], we have eight or nine guys and that's it. And if there is a 10th guy, he knows he's the 10th guy."

I can't remember if I saw someone mention it on this forum or somewhere else about coaches going ahead and paying some players mid-season that play for other schools in attempt to get them to enter the portal at the end of the season.
