Field conditions at C-F

@andrew jones @Deana_King Can someone please ask or try to figure out why the field was in such bad shape tonight? It was downright awful how much our guys were slipping all over the place. I’m shocked that we didn’t switch to longer cleats at halftime.

Let me be crystal clear that the field conditions had no bearing on the outcome of the game. I was just very surprised that a school like $tate, who touts their turf management program would have such a terrible surface to play on.

I would like to thank Mack and the Carolina Football Program

for helping me to realize there is more to life than Carolina Athletics. I have been a season ticket holder in football (4) and basketball (2) for over 30 years but I will probably not get football tickets any more and am seriously thinking if I want basketball tickets too. It costs me ~$7500/year between Rams Club and season tickets not to mention the travel expenses. For the product that's being put on the football field (and maybe the basketball court) it's a value proposition that's probably not worth it. And Andrew asked after the UVA game why the fan turnout was so bad...well now you know.

Might as well get on to next year- Carolina will win the ACC and have a chance to win the CFB

In 2023 we were just 4 total plays (1 each from our other 4 losses) and 1 coach unprepared game from being undefeated. That’s really close guys and most schools can’t say that their 8-5 team was really 13-0. We are #blessed to be Carolina fans.

In 24 Chizik is gonna install a new pressure defense and the lines will both be the fastest and strongest ever thanks to an off season of the best S&C program ever. The new QB will have a rocket arm that reminds some of Dan Marino but with the game sense of Mahommes. And the seniors will just not be denied in this, their final season.

There you go- I did you a favor if you read all that, because Carolina sports marketing is gonna tell you the same thing over the course of the next 8 months. Now you won’t have to bother with their bullshit this spring and summer.

Toby Keith's 'As Good as I Once Was'

Why can't UNC under Mack the ageless close out? No matter how much he loses some weight, the fact of life is that the best he can be at this age is summed by the Keith song: I aint as good as a I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.' He might seem for half the season too be fully what he once was, but then he'll start showing in 2nd halves especially that he aint close.

Mack simply can no longer close. He wears out over a game and even moreso over the course of a season. He might often seem at the start of a season to be as good as he once was, but soon only those addicted to Mack adoration will think that. He cannot close because he no longer thinks as fully and deeply and quickly as he once could. That is only going to get worse each year.

None that is changed even if Maye gets super hot and tosses 5 TDs to win the game in the final minute.

ACC football goes very much as UNC football goes

By that I mean that if UNC football is clicking, ACC football as a whole clicks better than it had, and its future looks bright. If UNC had led in making its football GREAT, then the ACC today would be much better at football overall and thus wealthier and more powerful. But UNC kept choosing tokacept football mediocrity and that was key to holding down the league as a whole.

You can see that in microcosm across this season. UNC began the season with legit vey high hopes and started with a very nice winning streak. The ACC opened the season getting a winning edge over both SEC and BT. Now, UNC football looks like the definition of mediocre nothing, and ACC football is struggling badly to close the season.

All Hail MACK BROWN, the CFB HC the Chapel Hill Ladies and the UNC admin love. He is charming mediocrity.

How We Compare

An awful lot of middling rankings at this stage of the game. As others have noted, shouldn't we be better at rebounding? Does better spacing necessarily translate into worse rebounding?
