Trip to Pittsburgh - Vile Fans

I've been a long-time lurker on this board, but finally have a reason to post after my family and I went to the game in Pittsburgh this past weekend. Never in my life have I encountered a more despicable fan base with as many s**t talking meathead fans as the Panthers had. Seriously, you would have thought they were a National Championship contender. Between the racist things that I heard directed toward Omarion, drunken fans threatening other UNC fans, and I will never step foot in that stadium again.

Thread about Running

I'm making this thread so as not to muck up the OOTB UNC Other Sports thread. I know @uncboy10 and @WhatTheHeel? (?) are runners. I don't run nearly as much as I used to. In high school, I ran track for two years and cross country for one. Don't mistake this to mean I was fast or anything.... those two sports didn't have tryouts or cuts :p

I've been inspired to:
1. Break my high school 5K PR of 20:55
2. Break 20:00 on a 5K
3. Any further improvements I can do from there.

I believe my mile PR is 5:45.

Random running question @uncboy10, do you find running in cold weather is exceedingly more difficult and more uncomfortable than running in warm/hot weather? For me, running in cold weather is terrible. I have much less stamina and I start to get that effect where you taste blood in the back of your throat (hopefully others know this phenomena and I'm not just dying) lol.

Under the Radar?

After this weekends win at Pitt, I was excited to see what the national media would say about our team. I was a bit disappointed that our win took a backseat and teams like Dook, FSU etc are getting all the press about being 4-0. It seems that the media is wary of jumping on board with UNC Football this year due to our letdown last year and years past. I watched a video about UNC from a popular site saying that we are the same team as last year!? Anyone watching this team vs last years team can clearly see the difference and much higher ceiling we have now..
I have come to the conclusion that we are in the absolute perfect spot flying under the radar. Being ranked 15 is just low enough to be overlooked and not get over-hyped by the media for the next two weeks.
Going into the bye week, we have shown we can win games with Offense, Defense or Special Teams with plenty to improve upon during the off week without the spotlight.
Drakes Heisman hopes have slightly diminished but are very much alive and will only get better as the year progresses.
Not having a game next week and being an afterthought this week will allow the team to turn inward and work on improving without the hype machine getting in the way and help keep the chip on their shoulder. We are in a perfect position to move into the top ten and start getting media attention just as we should be rounding into form in 3-5 weeks and in position to push for a championship at years end.
Wondering if you guys are annoyed by the lack of attention as I was or have the feeling that we’re flying under the radar in a good way?
