Dan Wolken nails it

UNC leading CFB's misery index.

"Brown eventually went to the television booth when his run at Texas went south, but he always wanted one more shot on the sidelines. North Carolina and athletics director Bubba Cunningham gave it to him in 2019, when Brown vowed that his goal was to win a national title at a place that meant so much in his life and career.

It seemed really romantic back then. Now, it seems ridiculous."

Current Top 25, the ACC, and coming playoffs

It is not a pretty picture. If not the fact that the BT always gets overrated, the SEC would have near total ownership.

Miami is #7, but the only other ranked ACC teams are undefeated Louisville at 15 and 1 loss Clemson at 17. That does not bde well for the ACC getting 2 teams into the 12 team playoff. Of course, Pitt is still undefeated and BC has lost by 6 at ranked Missouri and b eaten a BT team. Both could become ranked by season's close.

My first take away from this poll is that if it is true, as has been discussed by various people on the internet, especially those focused on the Big 12, that #10 Utah has not signed the Big 12 GOR and thus can leave the Big 12 easily and cheaply, the ACC needs to be all over Utah. Utah grew its program with foisting permanent recruiting ties in CA, and there are no CA teams in the Bug 12. Utah with annual league games vs. Cal and Stanford would be much better served for football than what the Big 12 offers.

The ACC needs a Championship Game with both team s either undefeated or 1 loss, and both ranked Top 10. Miami does not face Clemson, nor Pitt, nor BC, but does play the Cards at Louisville on October 19.

Louisville plays at ND this week, and faces Miami. The Cards go to Clemson on Nov. 2, and then close the season at Home vs. Pitt and at UK. If the Cards could finish 12-0, they should be ranked Top 4.

Clemson Goes to a reviving FSU on Oct. 5, hosts Louisville, at Pitt Nov. 16, and closes hosting the SoCar Coots. An 11-1 Clemson would be ranked Top 5.

Pitt's final 3 games are, this year, a killer trio: hosting Clemson, at Louisville, and at BC.

BC hosts Louisville and closes the season hosting Pitt. Would the northeast care at all if the Pitt-BC game were to determine who plays in the ACC Championship Game?

Candid Coaches: Which college basketball programs do you believe have the best NIL situations?(CBS)

Posted Sep 14, 2024
We didn't ask coaches what they know about NIL, because we already know that nobody really knows what's true and what isn't. Instead, we asked them to tell us which schools they believe have the best NIL situations based off of what they hear on the recruiting trail. We asked for lists of three. Unsurprisingly, Arkansas easily appeared on the most ballots. (CBS Sports)

Hallelujah I'm a Panthers fan again....

...at least for now...and for the first time ever I'm an Andy Dalton fan. I always thought he was half a notch below top-notch, but today I'd put his first half performance up against any QB in the league.

I soured on the Panthers when they sold the farm to get Bryce Young, an incredibly stupid move IMO. I refused to watch even a minute of their games until I saw that Andy was going to start today. We might not end up being SB contenders but dang it felt good to see an actual football team kick butt on both sides of the ball.
