Other than the fact that I'm really glad to see Roy going after P.J. Washington, I can only say that 2017 could be an epic class for us. With an elite talent like Jalek Felton already on board there's a chance for Roy to put this bad boy together early. Roy may be able to return to his old selective recruiting style and not have to be shot-gunning offers anymore.
And that brings us back to Wendell Carter.
First some follow-up info from my first post: Wendell will play this season at Fulton Leadership Academy, a small academic magnet school that plays in an odd conference with small private schools, many of which have some sick talent (Green Forest which probably doesn't have 100 boys in the upper grades, has 3 ranked players including a 7 footer - sheesh).
Anyway, all the positive stuff I posted on Carter is, well, even more positive after what I heard this weekend. I don't want to talk too much out of school, and I'll leave the predictions to Clint and Rob and the other pundits, but suffice it to say I feel very, very good about our chances with big Wendell... and I wouldn't be surprised if it happened sooner rather than later.
If so this is something for Carolina folks to get excited about. We're talking about a kid who will likely be the consensus #1 or 2 player in the '17 class. He and Felton are potential cornerstones of something special. And bonus, he's a solid student with good grounding who, believe it or not, could well be around for more than one year.
