Other than the fact that I'm really glad to see Roy going after P.J. Washington, I can only say that 2017 could be an epic class for us. With an elite talent like Jalek Felton already on board there's a chance for Roy to put this bad boy together early. Roy may be able to return to his old selective recruiting style and not have to be shot-gunning offers anymore.

And that brings us back to Wendell Carter.

First some follow-up info from my first post: Wendell will play this season at Fulton Leadership Academy, a small academic magnet school that plays in an odd conference with small private schools, many of which have some sick talent (Green Forest which probably doesn't have 100 boys in the upper grades, has 3 ranked players including a 7 footer - sheesh).
Anyway, all the positive stuff I posted on Carter is, well, even more positive after what I heard this weekend. I don't want to talk too much out of school, and I'll leave the predictions to Clint and Rob and the other pundits, but suffice it to say I feel very, very good about our chances with big Wendell... and I wouldn't be surprised if it happened sooner rather than later.
If so this is something for Carolina folks to get excited about. We're talking about a kid who will likely be the consensus #1 or 2 player in the '17 class. He and Felton are potential cornerstones of something special. And bonus, he's a solid student with good grounding who, believe it or not, could well be around for more than one year.

Gary, you've been on a tear lately.
Really appreciate all the updates and please keep it up.

Oz, like I said I don't want to talk too much out of school, but here's something that's public record you might like.
Below is exactly the way the text of Wendell's successive tweets looked about his offers on the 18th.

#blessed to receive an offer from LSU

#blessed to receive an offer from Cal

#blessed to also receive a offer from University of Arizona

#blessed to receive an offer from the University of North Carolina

;)

I swear I read gary's posts and the garbage we have had to deal with over the last five years and the clouds we have operated under just seem to disappear

Hope is intel proves accurate

What a class Felton, Washington and Carter would be. It all starts this year on the court though. No more choking. Now is the time for this team to get back to dominating and leaving no doubt. No more excuses.

I like it when recruits seem to feel excited about the Tar Heels. If this class happens and we get to the FF this year; I will declare the king is back!

I really love Mr. Carter's game! Add in Mr. Felton and Mr. Washington and you have a historic class!

Just a quick addendum:
I mentioned earlier that Gary Trent has been pushing a package deal with Wendell to OSU. There was a mention in a story the other day that Trent pitched the package to dook as well. Like I said, I can't imagine OSU being a player for Carter, but dook has been all over him. I don't know if Roy will bite on that, and again, the package talk always emanates from Trent's camp. Wendell acknowledged in an interview (when asked) that they talked about it at an AAU event, but didn't give the impression it was any sort of priority.
Again, Wendell is a well grounded kid. He's just getting his feet wet in the elite recruiting thing, and he's not one of these attention-seekers we see out there too often. He'll likely take visits at his pace when the time comes, and he likely already pretty much knows where those will be. I don't mean to insinuate he would pull the trigger early on a commitment, but I also can't see him doing the drama thing and dragging it out like some do.

It is probably all they can do to update every two years....o_O
Yea. Recent video I saw of him he looks every bit of 6'9" 235-240. PLus he is only 16 and could be 6'11"-7' range by the time he hits college?
