Hubert Davis

Reason I say what I say about RJ is we have a log jam at the 2….RJ is not a pg…He is an undersized 2….Seth is not a 3 he is undersized at that position…Ian is a 2 in college but will play the 1 in the NBA…Drake should be have been starting at the 3 from the get go….

Like I say it’s just conversation at this point…Hubert did a great job last year with the roster but he didn’t this year…

I don’t mind my PG being 6 foot or under but the 2 can’t be the same size or smaller…It’s just a flawed roster…

Hopefully he gets it right but I have my doubts…I just hate the NIL excuse because it’s not true…
I don’t think having your two on the smaller size is horrible but it’s definitely not ideal when your 4 and 5 are not big or great. That’s a lot to make up all around lol.

maybe if rj was shooting better they’d be 2-3 games improved…i know he shot it better last year and probably a lot to do with selection, but it still needs to be weighted.

a lot of his takes have been horrible.

Yep, we are undersized at every position except PG. Ergo why almost all of our players are having to play a position above their size. It’s hindered us offensively and defensively. And now we appear to have lost confidence which further exacerbates our problems. Unfortunately I don’t foresee Hubert changing his game strategy and I don’t think our season is going to end well.

once it was posted that we are 21 games BELOW .500 against quad 1 teams (aka good teams or teams with a consistent pulse), it’s a wrap for me. it just confirms everything we’ve seen during his 4 years. we do not consistently beat anybody worth a shit and still drop a good chunk of games against teams we have far superior talent to. great guy. awful college basketball coach.

I think this year's team is a wrap, we have no answers down low. I do believe we have the best collection of guards in the country still. Ian Jackson is having a really good year, Seth Trimble is having a step up year.
, Drake Powell is better than advertised, and EC is still a dynamic floor general. RJ is not looking as impressive as last year, but dude is balling.

How did we blow an opportunity to be really good this year? Washington is a back up big, Lubin looks like he is 6'8, Tyson well he tries hard. Withers looks like the only thing he has improved on is hitting a 3 in the corner from time to time.

This is not a terrible team to watch, but against anyone who has any quality bigs we are the under dawg immediately. I vote they roll the dice on HD one more year, he has a really good class coming in. If Seth sticks around I have high expectations. No way HD doesn't get help down low again next year.

Hubert has to go. we are having to battle our asses off against the bottom teams in the ACC at this point in half empty arenas playing on the CW.

Not taking away from your post, but as a TV antenna viewer, I appreciate that i don't need to have internet or a cable package to watch sports.

And I've got to watch two more Carolina games in the past 8 days where I probably won't be able to see them on TV anymore until next season. It's not JP/RayCom, but I do appreciate it and hope they get better games in the future.

no bro ... maybe the lower deck but I saw some tv shots and the top was very light from what I saw.
i saw one section, maybe an upper corner, that was light…just looked like it was crowded i guess, especially compared to last weekend.

so, do you believe a large majority of the fanbase is hoping to miss the tournament in order to get a change or make the tournament because “we must make the tournament”?

i’m kinda torn to be honest…i said “he’s gotta go two weeks ago” so i guess i’m there.

tbh g .. I don't know. I do know that fair weather fans aren't likely to support mediocre teams and performances. By the same token I also believe sports in general are taking a back seat to other priorities in folks lives. I also think the traditional UNC fans are not happy with the product HD has, or is putting, on the floor and the ish show we saw today against a 1-7 conference team at our place was surely not a confidence builder in the direction this years bball team (if you can call it that) is going. We were 20pt favs at home and went to overtime and were damn lucky to get there. You tell me ..

I can only imagine that we will get stomped over the next four or five games. I hope not, but it seems likely. We're all disappointed as it is. Two weeks from now we may not care at all. The potential for an extremely athletic team next year is there. I hope that pans out. So I'm gonna grab a beer, hope we beat Pitt, dook and clempson and cross my fingers for the future. Go Heels!

i’d love to argue “but it’s the brand”, but i just can’t anymore…if i’m making a decision on him getting the best out the roster, he’s lost that fight…that’s what they’re supposed to do, maximize the roster, right?

just for a clearer picture, i might re-watch the kansas and mich st games this week.

It's baffling how this team should have beat Kansas earlier this season & almost lost to a horrible BC team today.... is it all coaching or chemistry issues too !

If you want to tell the tail of the fact that we have talent but our coaching is terrible we lost to #1, 4 ,5, 8, 12 and #25 teams in the country and in 4 of those games we competed pretty good with a shot to win, but we almost lost at home to BC and did lose at home to Stanford and took a last shot to beat ND. That screams coaching not lack of talent.

that’s why i want to watch how two of those ended…the auburn and bama i almost get, but i understand your point.

honestly, i don’t recall the ways the kansas and mich st went down, completely.

Logically speaking if we have enough talent to had a shot to beat 4 of those teams then we have enough talent to not be squeaking out wins against Boston College at home in overtime

I seriously mean it’s nice to have this positive outlook. Kudos.

But can you say Hubert has made this year’s team better - any player as an individual- or the team as a whole, given the known pieces / players he has - and all their strengths and limitations as individuals and as a team? Has he built game plans and coached them to optimize (get most out of what they are, stretch and challenge them) them as a team? That’s what being a good coach means to me. You see it often at smaller or lesser known programs who compete and win above average / expected level.

I see absolutely none of that with Hubert in 4 years, especially this year. If anything this team has regressed from early on. Maybe that is because through scouting teams can see how to play us and that we have zero inside game or threat. Ok - so what does Hubert do to adjust to that strategically?

All I see or hear is a bunch of “golly gee we need to play hard and smart and outcompete and hope for the best”. Empty BS that no legit high level D1 coach should get away with, let alone what should be a top 5 (top 10 at least) program and job in the nation

He’s had 4 years to show he can be a good D1 coach. I don’t see improvement or learning by him in any area. I seriously ask his supporters who ask for more time for him - what is one thing as a coach he’s improved on in his 4 years or this year? And that includes picking coaches / staff on his bench who can make the team develop, get better ie a big man coach, a shooting specialist coach, defensive coach, etc?

I’m out on Hubert no matter how this year ends - and I guarantee it’s going to end poorly. No way we make ncaa tourney - and likely won’t play in NIT. Making the NIT should be a humiliation for this program obviously, not a goal
