Oh boy--- we are getting a little away from basketball here boys. If someone being "your enemy" makes them bad.... that makes the US 'bad people' in many parts of the world. Soldiers follow orders- their actions don't make them bad people in every instance. Let's move on- you can't resolve a war of words like this.

Just got a message from someone who is offended by your user name.

No kidding.

Says it should be French-CanadianChuck and asked me to ban it.

Be careful what you ask for.

Offended or jealous? :)
The problem is Canuck is not considered offensive to most Canadians.
Also, not asking to have the OP banned, just asking about the limits.

Is using the term "Nazi" offensive? Isn't "gook" used to refer to the Viet Cong? They were our enemies...and bad people. Who would care that we're offending them?

I'm not arguing. I'm just seeing how you define the word.

Gook generally refers to those of Asian heritage, Nazi's are not a race but an ideology.

"Most" being the pertinent word, eh?

Geth is correct so let's just say the limit hasn't been reached here and move on. Works well for me!

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I disagree with this. Gook was originally used to refer to the Viet Cong. It was only after that when people started using it to refer to Asians in general. So just because some people misused the word, doesn't make it a universally offensive word. And because it's intended meaning was that specifically of those fighting against us in Vietnam, couldn't one argue that it too, like the word nazi, is an ideology?

I go to the Gym and a Ukrainian dude calls me Nazi Man, I figure he has no idea he would be in serious crap for that anywhere but the Fitness gym but I do laugh when he says it.. Also wasn't he using the term Gooks on the wire from the Term Crapping on themselves?

Nothing said on here about Race religion or Politics would even make me even flinch , this board can't even get a 50/50 Recruit prediction right lol...

I quick google shows the usage pre-dates Vietnam so, no. As you say I don't want to hijack the thread either but I read the OP's comment and thought it was awful close to saying "there's a ni**er in the woodpile". I get the feeling that those on this thread do not feel that they even close.
Maybe one day. :)

Isn't the word Canadian the super secret Word you put in the place of racial slurs? I must have been in left field for like a zillion years a Guy told me that like last year and as I started paying attention I saw where it was actually used and lost my mind and said WTF?

Seriously, stay on topic. Heelbent, you said Roy had an in home visit with Jaylen Brown last week. did you hear anything positive?

Apparently getting info out of that camp is like pulling teeth. I haven't heard or seen anything.

gook derived from Hangook the way Koreans pronounce the name of their country. Oh by the way get over it you bunch of whining broads...or should I say biotches.

back on topic Kansas got Chieck Diallo. Not many top guys left Brown , Thon Maker (rumor is he will play overseas) and Tevin Mack ranked about 40 spots higher than Williams. I believe woofies have no commits , so I guess they will be searching the JC ranks.

Some Redskins are not offended by Redskins. Some N*ggers are not offended by the use of N*iggers. You know why? The word is not the offensive part. It's the USER'S INTENT when they USE the word. Canuck COULD BE offensive to someone, but the way CanuckChuck uses it is not meant to be offensive. The way "The gooks are in the wire" was used was also not intended to be offensive. If a person is offended in spite of knowing that there was no intent for offense, then they are choosing to be offended. The words are neutral, they always are, always will be. The user, and the user's intent (it's called CONTEXT) is what makes anything malicious or benign, or anywhere in between.

Gook pre-dates Vietnam. Yankee is potentially offensive to Southerners. "Creamed Corn" could be offensive if a person uses it with a malicious tone or intent. By itself.

Our recruiting is hurting this year for several reasons- a full line-up and a recent academics scandal. I like to focus on the full line-up.
