2019 NFL Draft

BTW, the draft gets more insufferable with every year. Dragging the speed down to perform interviews and allowing SPEDs to live out a dream drives me nuts. Let's get on with the draft already.

I think it's a reach, but if you feel that he's your guy you pull the trigger. I don't think they wanted to see if he fell to #17, and I heard that they didn't like Haskins.

If he’s your guy then your team is in rough shape IMO.

I have always wondered why the 1st round, when you should have a pretty good idea who you want, is the longest between picks but the later rounds, when you think it would be tougher to make a selection, is like rapid fire??

Maybe I’m just backwards

I agree, but I'm guessing it's because those lower picks are less likely to produce star players and you're generally drafting for depth and special teams.

That could be right, but I thought the same thing about the Patrick Maholms pick. Maybe Jones is the real deal? You could do a lot worse than a big, athletic, accurate QB with a Duke education, no offense to anything UNC. I know you guys hate the Dookies.

Jones was called “pedestrian” and a backup by one scout. Todd McShay had him rated as 59th best player in the draft. LOL.

Again... everyone thinks Mr. Magoo is a qb whisperer because of the Mannings.

We shall see of course but this feels like a HUGE reach with high BUST potential.

kearse, jpp, orakpo mold

He needs to gain a little more weight to reach that goal, but he has the frame to carry it. FSU had a pretty poor strength and conditioning program for most of his career here, so it'll be interesting to see what he does in a pro S&C program.

I actually met Kearse when he was coming out of college and the width of the dude's shoulders was insane. I'm a pretty broad guy myself and he made me look like a stick figure.

one problem with jones is his yards per attempt...it’s around 6 whereas murray was around 11...an nfl qb with 6 yards per is a failure...throw in the fact that the giants line is average at best...gettlemen was quoted saying he knew after 3 series’ that jones was the one...even if that’s hyperbole, why say it?...now he’s talking three year plan, lol.

the giants could’ve had darnold, odell, and josh allen...instead they have jones, barkley, and lawrence.

Yeah, it was definitely a reach, IMO. I'm defending the pick, but it was obviously a reach. I think they could have gotten him with the #17 pick, but I don't fault them for reaching for a QB. It's a QB driven league nowadays.

The yards per attempt is a good point. I wouldn't have taken him at #5 personally, but I'm also not an NFL GM. That being said, Matt Millen was an NFL GM.

i want a safety(rapp, thornhill, or adderley), tight end(sternberger, smith), d-tackle(hill, jones)...fill those two of those three spots and i’m good.

if by chance wr(deebo samuel) is there at 90, then i’d also take him.

That was one of the best draft days for the Redskins in a while. Unfortunately, we have the same shitty coach, owner, GM and DC. Not to mention, no receivers for Haskins to throw to, assuming he gets to see the field this season.

I read somewhere that this was a Doug Williams move. That's another thing about Snyder that amazes me. He is always trying to reach back to former glory to attain present-day success. I don't think that works well. And, it sure doesn't work well for Snyder. But, he keeps doing it. Doug Williams had a great season... 30 years ago. George Allen was a great coach... 50 years ago. His son doesn't know his ass from 3rd base when it comes to present-day football. Joe Gibbs was a great coach... 30 years ago. That doesn't mean he's the answer for a present-day NFL team (10 years ago).

It was that kind of thinking that makes me squeamish about Mack Brown.

Still, a good draft day!

There are still some good safeties out there. I was just looking at the draft board earlier today.

The Skins had a pretty good day yesterday. Moving back up into the first to grab Sweat could be a yuge move.

BTW, I'm seeing Thornhill being mocked to the Cowboys, so this sounds like it could be a legit reality.

listening to some scout’s live feed and they are commenting on how cheap(draft pick wise) it is to move up...trades galore, in other words.

like...he’s one i wanted.

get the safety later, hopefully.

There is still some safety talent on the board. I've read that this guy is raw, but he has some real physical tools.

Edit: I've always been a firm believer that the game is won in the trenches, so I don't think it was a bad pick. People were crapping on the Cowboys a few years ago for taking guards and a center in the first round, but that obviously wasn't a mistake as they had what was probably the best o-line in the NFL before they were hit by attrition and injuries.

i always believed starting inside and working out on both sides...i also saw the colts and rams have their way down the stretch last year with dallas.

this kid was a pre-draft visit and they liked his motor and his skill set...maybe a safety or tight end later.
