2025 (Pre) Portal thread

Ok Tar Heel fanatics, with the addition of Caleb Wilson to our roster for 2025-26, it is time to start talking about portal players to build on top of this signing.
My opinion is that we will have two desperate needs from the portal.
A stud 5 man, and marksman on the wing.
For this discussion let's talk specifically about the 5 spot.
I looked at a preseason top 100 players list and compiled some names that I think are worthy of consideration.
Here is my initial list
Motiejus Krivas (Arizona) 7'2" 260So 8/4.5
Baye Ndongo. (GaTech) 6'9" 240So 11.7/7.5
JT Toppin. ( TexTech) 6'9" 225 So 17/9
Malik Raneau ( Indiana) 6'9" 232 Jr 13/5.7
Robbie Avila ( St Louis) 6'10" 240 Jr 18/7
38% 3's
Collin Boyles (So Carolina) 6'7" 245 15/9

Wish list without a chance: D Queen Maryland 6'10" 240 16/8 He is NBA Bound

Feel free to add names or tell me why any of these are not good candidates.

Depends on how many guys we lose and Zayden High is part of the equation too.

Great thread to get conversation going ‘whiz’

I differ in the needs dept and would readily say the needs are:
1. Centre
2. Centre
3. Replacement of those leaving

The last point is key, RJ is out of eligibility, Capn Jack is likely gone, there are two frosh back court players coming in, so whomever else leaves should dictate the strategy.

Way too early to speculate. The portal will move quickly.
