Hello all,
I am a student here at UNC-CH, and I'm currently studying digital sports marketing trends and doing some research on the D1 basketball landscape.
As part of my research for the semester, I've put together a quick (maybe 5 minutes) survey on fans' feelings toward the basketball program, and the interactions that they have with the program's official marketing efforts.
It would be GREATLY appreciated if any of you could take a few minutes out of your day and fill out this anonymous survey. A few weeks back, I posted a different quick survey, and several of y'all were great in responding and providing feedback. It was a great help for me with the project, and I hope we can get some great feedback again this time around.
Thanks in advance! Here's the link to the survey: http://bit.ly/D1bballsurvey
Go Heels!

P.S - Sorry for the spammy post! Just trying to make sure I reach devoted fans where they are...which means hitting message boards like this one as we try to build a large pool of respondents.

LADY DRAGONS SET FOR REGION VI SOCCER SEMIFINALS SATURDAY IN TOPEKA

HCC Sports Information

Friday, October 26, 2012

The first test of the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team's odyssey to claim a third-straight Region VI championship was indeed a little big bizarre.

The second test could be an adventure as well.

The eighth-ranked Lady Dragons (15-1) will meet a surging Barton Community College team at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka in the second semifinal of the 2012 Region VI Women's Soccer Championship.

The game will be videostreamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network with the stream scheduled to begin about 6:25 p.m. Live stats will not be available from soccer, but you can follow the game on Twitter.

The Hutchinson-Barton winner will meet the winner of the first semifinal between Jayhawk Conference champion Butler and Johnson County at 3 p.m. on Sunday in Topeka.

Hutchinson reached its eighth-consecutive Region VI semifinal ? HCC has qualified for the semifinals in each of its eight years of existence ? with an 11-5 victory over Cloud County on Monday at the USD 308 Athletic Complex.

Numerous records, both positive and negative, fell in that game. Sophomore Melissa Hetherington scored the most goals and points in an HCC postseason game with six goals and 13 points. Freshman Danielle Sheehy scored the second most points and tied the postseason assist record with seven points and three helpers.

From a negative standpoint, the Lady Dragons allowed the most goals ever in a postseason contest and allowed five goals in a game for the first time since 2008. HCC also gave up an individual hat trick for the first time in exactly 100 games.

Barton (15-3-1) has won five games in a row, posting shutouts in the last three contests. The Cougars defeated Neosho County 2-0 in their opening-round regional game on Monday.

Outside of giving up four goals against Cloud County, the Cougars have surged because of its defense. Barton has allowed only 23 goals all season.

In their regular-season meeting on Sept. 18 in Great Bend, Hutchinson blanked Barton 2-0 on goals from Hetherington and sophomore Jamie Smith. HCC out-shot Barton 14-9 overall and 5-2 in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Eunice Figueroa had two saves and a shutout, while Barton keeper Cecilee Horlacher had four saves and two goals allowed.

HCC scored both goals in the first half and played ball possession for the second half in the first meeting.

Sheehy and Hetherington continue to set a blistering scoring pace in 2012.

Sheehy is the nation's leading scorer with 97 points, 38 goals and six game-winning goals. Her 21 assists rank third in the NJCAA.

Hetherington, last season's NJCAA-leading scorer, is fifth in the nation with 75 points, tied for ninth with 27 goals and is fourth with 20 assists.

The Cougars are led by Bianca Barron, who also six game-winning goals. She has 30 goals and nine assists to lead Barton.

The winner of the Region VI Tournament this season will have a direct berth into the 2012 NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championships in Melbourne, Fla., in the third week of November.
