....as opposed to 176 allowed thru 4 games in 2014. Yes, the competition was stiffer in 2014 (EZU, Clemson, SDSU last year vs. SCar and Illinois this year). But the improvement is palpable. Even today; after the one blown play early (and I watched it again; they simply had the perfect play call for what we did defensively), although the Hens got some yards, they became tougher and tougher to come by as the game wore on.
I will be very interested to see what Chizik does to gameplan for the GT triple option. Both ND and dook shut them down. The good news is that our offense is better than either of those teams, and so we probably don't HAVE to shut them completely down. We just need to get them off the field enough to where their TOP advantage is sub-10 min. or less
The key is always to get up early on Tech by 2 scores; make them play from behind and they're not nearly as effective. We did it in 13, but then went braindead (or Feddead; call it what you wish) offensively and Tech piled up a 40 min+ time of possession in the pouring rain. We did it last year too, and it paid off...although to be accurate, we won that game b/c we had the ball last.
