True — SMU is actually closer to the gulf than west coast. The Texas connection is one of the recruiting areas I was talking about 👍Technically speaking it's two west coast teams. SMU is in Texas. But it's still a weird and unnecessary move.
Incredibly stupid and nauseating.Traveling budgets for the lesser sports just got crazy expensive…
In THEORY this helps football/basketball with recruiting in both new market areas if we want to… without too much worry about them recruiting over us on this coast.
Frustrating part for me is the idea that was floated a few years back that would have saved the ACC - combine with the PAC-12 to make a coast v coast super conference with Atlantic and Pacific divisions. Instead the PAC-12 dies and we are left holding crumbs having been outmaneuvered by SEC into expanding the playoffs and the BIG-10 as they grab the best of the PAC-12.Incredibly stupid and nauseating.
I think it was more of a desperation move for when FSU, Clemson and most likely UNC leave. I don't think the recruiting will have that much of an impact.True — SMU is actually closer to the gulf than west coast. The Texas connection is one of the recruiting areas I was talking about 👍
I adjusted thread title
From what I've seen reported, you are right about it being moo. Just one more reason for us to leave them. The sports political side - the assumption is NC State is the defector vote???
If we could have somehow proactively brought over Washington and Oregon along with Stanford and Cal, then that would have been a great haul. You give the chance of the ACC having a lot more stability in that situation. That requires the ACC to do something smart. Haven't known them to do something smart for a long time.Frustrating part for me is the idea that was floated a few years back that would have saved the ACC - combine with the PAC-12 to make a coast v coast super conference with Atlantic and Pacific divisions. Hope you eventually get some psychiatric help.this may work until we elect a Republican governor, and then those fruitcakes in California will probably enact another travel ban. Maybe the old one is still in effect, who knows?
Made possible by NC State.Desperate move

Yep, figures State would flip... probably just to spite UNC.Well it's done and I HATE it!!!! Thankful I was able to experience the golden Era of the ACC....the 70's thru the 90s and also Roy era.It will never be the same...thanks State..even more reason to hate you
The school that hired Debbie Yow after she bankrupted Maryland. Not exactly known for their smart longterm thinking.Yep, figures State would flip... probably just to spite UNC.
Hope you eventually get some psychiatric help.
I don't think that would apply to Stanford and Cal since technically the state wouldn't be funding the travel. The ACC money would fund it. It definitely doesn't apply to Stanford since they are private.States Subject to AB 1887’s Travel Prohibition
