ACC NAMES DENNIS HENNIGAN COORDINATOR OF FOOTBALL OFFICIATING
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today that Dennis Hennigan, a long-time collegiate football referee, has been named as the league's Coordinator of Football Officiating.
Hennigan, who has served as a Football Bowl Subdivision Referee for the past 17 years, has refereed in 15 bowl games including the 2004 Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game. In addition, he has also refereed in three Rose Bowls, a Fiesta Bowl and a Chick-fil-A Bowl.
"Dennis brings outstanding qualifications to this position and is well respected by his colleagues, coaches and administrators," said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. "He brings integrity and years of knowledge to this position and has all the tools to continue the positive direction of our football officiating program."
In addition to his ACC affiliation the last two seasons, Hennigan was a referee in the Big East Conference from 1998-2012 and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference from 1983-1997. A resident of Camilius, New York, he has practiced law for over 30 years and is currently with the Costello, Cooney & Fearon Law Firm in Syracuse, New York.
