With the ACC Tournament starting Tuesday, I wanted to plot the performance of each of the league's 15 teams' efficiencies. Remember that in the graph, upwards means better offense, while leftwards means better defense. Not surprisingly, Regular Season Champion Duke is the most upper left team, and it appears that Pitt is the most lower right team. The green zone teams met Dean Smith's goals for offensive and defensive efficiencies, while the red zone teams met neither. This is the second-worst defensive team in UNC history. That should help paint the picture about how awful NCSU was this season. I had to stretch the graph to include them.
Here is the UNC year that is most equivalent to each current ACC team's performances:
BC - 2002
Clemson - 2022
Duke - 1987
FSU - 2020
GT - 2020
LOU - 2020
MIA - 2022
NCSU - 2002
ND - 1996
Pitt - 2002
SYR - 2022
UVA - 1990
VT - 1989
WFU - 1989
