For those agonising about Roy's line-up changes this may, or may not provide some solace.

Especially this:
"By January or February, Carolina will have a veteran starting shooting guard, a newly experienced, talented and versatile sophomore shooting guard, and a flexible senior guard who can rotate between the off guard and point guard. If you're OK with that arrangement, you also have to accept that getting there might require some confusing decisions made in December. It will be worth it."

Not sure that explains why Luke was thrown in the mix?

We're incredibly fortunate to have our Coach and shouldn't take him for granted. Same goes for Adam Lucas.

Adam, your simply and truthful explanation of the present rotation of Williams and Britt goes way over many fans comprehension.

Many fans still do not understand that these players proudly representing the University of North Carolina are still just YOUNG men trying to bond as a team and they are trying their very level best to understand their roles and how their contributions can help the team.

Coach Williams is the leader, the father figure and most importantly the coach of these fine young men. He has been in the coaching business a very long time and even if we are close in age I for one would NEVER EVER challenge one of his decisions or game tactics.

Adam, many fans ONLY think about the present and not the future. Not realizing the tinkering of guard position now is just laying the groundwork for the next couple of months.

Thank you for quickly getting this thread started so many not all would fully understand the SKY IS NOT FALLING. I know myself and many others who attended the game yesterday do not only believe the sky is not falling but the clouds have opened up and for the first time in quite a while the sun is shinning brightly...

Exactly this. I really don't care who starts. Theo will be back soon enough and then Nate should spell JB and Kenny spell Theo. There's nothing wrong at all with our backcourt rotation and that was never the question. Nate had a bad game at IU, a particularly bad first two minutes with broken D, a TO, and two terrible shots taken- but we can bounce back from that. We've got enough depth in the backcourt to recover, even then, and recover we did.

The question is why, oh why, when we have cut the lead to 5 late in the game is Luke Maye in the game his first game back from injury? And then what happens? He heaves a 24 foot three point shot with ample time left on the shot clock, where any basket at all would've cut the game to one possession and we had studs on the court. I love Roy more than anyone but it's fair game to point out his stubbornness and his mistakes. That's the job, he signed up for it. And Luke in the game at that point in time is utterly ridiculous.

Then Roy says on the radio yesterday he didn't like being in Bloomington because we didn't play well. Sure, we didn't. But how can we find much of a rhythm with the lineup changes coming at such a rapid rate. Guy finds a zone, guy goes to the bench.

It's all good to start building longevity and depth for March now, but at some point in time we've got to realize that these games DO matter when it comes to seeding. That would have been a huge resume booster and had we tightened the lineup and won that game, which we easily could've done, we'd be #2 in the country today. The result mattered, a tremendous amount, and what mattered more to Roy than winning- was playing an off injury Luke Maye at the most important time of the game.

We must not overlook when (if ever) Pinson will return this season. Please keep in mind that he has had this same injury two other times in his career. Even if he returns, there is no guarantee that he will not hurt his feet again. Theo puts ernormous pressure on his feet by the way he plays the game. Pull out the film and watch those drop steps in the lane and twisting moves putting pressure on the side of his feet almost directly against the floor. It's hard to explain, but I don't know of any other player that has had three surgeries almost identical on his feet in such a short period of time. For your sanity, it may be best not to assume that everything will be rosy "if" he returns.

As a fan it is a bit nature of the best to critique what we see and the decisions that are made. Fans, being short for fanatic are perfectionists and anything we see short of perfection will get discussed and many times taken way to far. Me, *I am gonna talk about what I see, both the good and not so good, Roy says or does something I don't love, going to talk about it some. But just cause I do that, just cause many others do as well does not mean I/we think we are smarter, better, or in any way more able to do what Roy does than he is. You may not like what your teen daughter wears to school today but talking about it does not mean you don't love or respect her. I think same with Roy, just cause we discuss, most of us any way, does not mean we love or respect him any less, it means we just want to express opinion and exchange thoughts and every now and then dream about perfection even if we know it is not possible. I guess in some way dreaming of someone else lacking in perfection helps us cope with our own lack of perfections.

Since it sounds like he is ahead of schedule, I'm banking on him returning. But we've seen players return from injuries and not get back up to speed (Zeller as a freshman, for example) and players return from injury and never quite perform as well (Dex and Leslie). Others, like Reggie (and Zeller), eventually excelled.

Point being that Theo may come back but we won't know for a while if he can give us what we expected to see from him before the injury. And we don't know how long it will take him to fully rehab and to catch up with his teammates, if he can with the time left in the season.

When Theo returns, I doubt he will just take over at SG. Maybe he will, but I won't be surprised if Roy uses him as a spark off the bench for a good while. It's the role he's played since he arrived, so it's presumably an easier fit to start with.

'And if you have to have a rotation like this, it would be difficult to find three more accommodating individuals. Britt has consistently done anything that helps the team during his Carolina career. In his postgame interview with Jones Angell on Sunday afternoon, Kenny Williams—who had just made five three-pointers—actually said the words, “My favorite thing to do is take a charge.”

And Pinson said his injury has helped him become a better player and person. Why? “It’s helped me get more hands-on with the freshmen," he said. "They’ve let me help them out a lot, and they’ve been great.
”'

Gotta love reading this stuff. And I think it's important to remember, as Steat and WWJD pointed out, there is no guarantee that Theo will return at close to full speed. We're all hoping that he will, but it's certainly not a given. And he will have missed valuable practice and playing time, yet again. So it may take him a while to approach the level at which he was playing this summer.
