ALL POSTERS ................. please read AJ's article on Luke

Doing 40 min numbers on someone getting 12 min per game is so flawed it's ridiculous.

You watching the same games as everyone else? He looks completely lost against top 25 teams.

This got a laugh. Athletic compared to what? Certainly not other ACC players.

Neither pass against top 25 competition.

Seriously, two Luke Maye appreciation threads in one day is a new low.

Then DONT READ THEM. How simple is that?

He's a UNC student athlete, and a legacy one at that, who gave up a potentially larger role at a lesser program to fulfill his dream of playing for Carolina. You continuing to bash him is what is a new low, and I'm about sick of it.
Start a topic. Any topic you like. That's your right. Just as it is everyone else's, and no one needs you trying to tell everyone what they can talk about, so how about you give it a rest.

Love you man. Have a great holiday season!

Seriously? I just got through saying that numbers aren't valid yet. I put those up there to show a positive contrast to the meaningless negative ones you put up. The rest of that response is just over the top. You accused Mike of showing Luke "blind love" --- if so, then what I'm seeing here is blind hate. C'mon man.

Ah he's a "legacy" player. Maybe we are getting to the bottom of it.

So no one will admit this...but do some people praise our white role players more than our other role players?

I've seen a ton of Stillman and Luke love on this board, but very little for BRob.

Did we ever start a Desmond Hubert appreciation thread after he played decently vs a mid major? I think not.

I mostly get and agree with your point - but then there is refuting your point Exhibit A - in Joel James: the (often unwarranted) love for effort, hustle, etc given to Joel James.

I think it relates more to recognizing what players do with what (sometimes limited) physical, natural God-given skills and ability (running, jumping, shooting touch, strength, hand-eye coordination) that player has, and what that player does to make up for it in attitude and hustle. Not solely based on color / race.

I am sure I could think of some other black players over the years, but Joel James really fills the description

Hes only played 8 min this year against top 25 comp. Everyone else gets a pass on their fresh yr. Kenny did. diong just fine now. BTW I'm not saying hes Kenny, but whats good for the goose is good for the gander
I think they are both Ganders. In fact I am pretty sure.

The title of this thread from a mod instructed ALL POSTERS to read something. Why instruct people to read an article but then stifle the comments on said article?

Simply this was a PREMI article and I ask AJ if he would make it public. He agreed so I shut down the whizzing match on the other one thinking folk would appreciate it. LAST TIME I do that! :(

Luke has his career game, and I think it's fair to say we don't win the Davidson game without him. Mike starts a Luke appreciation thread which basically says "is there any doubt that Luke will be a positive asset to this team now?", and the realists/pessimists, take your choice, have to turn the thread into a pissing contest and get the thread locked. So now we have a second thread meant to get the discussion back on topic(ie: that Luke may possibly contribute more in our plans than some think), and it's been hijacked once again.

To say this is getting old is an understatement. And to say it is the same handful of guys who are derailing threads is obvious.

100% arch.
2 posters who've joined the board this year have gone out of their way to drive a wedge through this little online community.... enough to make sticking around seem like a waste of time.

Perfect!!

Our 3 best teams under Roy, which i think no debate are 05, 09, and 2012 all had a 3 big man rotation

05- May, Jawad, Marvin
09- Hans, Thompson, Davis
2012- Henson, Zeller, McAdoo

Thinking we need Luke Maye to be a contributor in order to be a final four team is laughable. Its not bashing him to think he should be playing in the Big South, its being realistic. Theres a reason his list of offers included Elon, Charlotte, Charleston and WCU

05 had Byron Sanders
09 had Mike Copeland
12 had Des Hubert and Jackson Simmons

I agree it's over the top to suggest Luke will be an ACC calibre starter, but it's also going too far to say he doesn't belong on the roster and instead playing in the big south!

Every good Roy team has had a Maye type player and to be fair, I think he's one of the best "4th post player" Roy's had at UNC.

Lol come on dude those players are all reaches and you know it. None of those players played any meaningful minutes in any big games. Sanders didnt even play at all in the 05 title game and Copeland and Simmons? I said rotation not mop up duty

You're right, and that's why Luke is one of the better 4th bigs Roy has had at his disposal. Yes, he's still a work in progress, but worth the investment of time and coaching, especially considering the inconsistencies of the two seniors in recent years (Meeks with injury, Hicks with fouls)

Exactly, Oz. I hope our fans realize we are one injury away from Luke having to play major minutes, so it's imperative that he be given the PT to be prepared should that scenario occur. And don't take this as bashing Joel James, because he was my favorite player on last year's team. But Luke has shown me that he can, and will, contribute more on the court than Big Joel. And I think we can all agree that Joel had some very positive moments last year. Luke has significantly more skills than Joel, his lack of ideal size is his biggest drawback. But like his dad, he's a fierce competitor and no one will outwork him. I think he has a bright future at UNC and by the end of the year, I think most UNC fans will be pleased with his role/contributions.

I've been trying to be subtle, but it is time to call out the trolls! The two above referenced posters are the most effective trolls I've ever seen. I will give credit where it is due. They are on par with the dude that made fools of the entire pack nation and we can't resist feeding them. I resisted using the ignore function this one time because even if I don't see their post others will still allow them to ruin every thread. I will neither read nor respond to anything they post again. Can we get together on this and just not rise to the obvious bait?

Luke is my favorite type of Heel. He bleeds Carolina Blue just as many of us do! He is living a dream that I as a college level bball player (Div 2) had but never realized. He sacrifices and works and never complains and hustles and .......! I settled for going to UNC in grad school. He is capable enough to spell our bigs and can step up periodically when needed. Sounds like a Tar Heel!

The treatment Luke and players of his level get at UNC is reason # 1 million why I love the Tar Heels!

I put both of them on ignore yesterday. I've grown tired of reading their constant negativism. Despite my efforts, I can't seem to find any middle ground with them, or even get them to agree to disagree. So unless someone quotes them, I won't have to even see their names, let alone subject myself to their brand of "realism".
