GREAT LEADER OF MEN LOL...HE IS A SORE LOSSER
AMEN BROTHERPlain and simple, he is a shadow of his former coaching self... now just a fraud, pulling any string and working any angle to try to extend a career which is long out of date... a bit like his greatest cheerleader Dukie V.
In many ways K and Roy are vinegar and wine... K is getting more and more sour with age whilst Roy seems to be doing a better and better job with each passing year.
LOLCoach KRZYZEWSKI goes home to Mickie every night! He's a very lucky man!!!
Great anology. In many ways K and Roy are vinegar and wine... K is getting more and more sour with age whilst Roy seems to be doing a better and better job with each passing year.
Yea Dean did have a lot talent in those tournament runs for two titles. But things are changing with the 2020 class likely the last one and done classes. Cant find the article but Jeff Goodman said Duke changed the one and done type recruiting starting with the incoming class. Does make some sense they looked to have 2/3 multi year guys from that class. He does the least with the most .... has for many years (but so did Dean, in my opinion ... in regards to NCAAT success).
Dean was not obsessed with winning every game he could. He was more concerned with building good citizens, basketball was secondary to that. Not so with Knight Lite. With him, it’s all about building his legacy, much like Obama. He does the least with the most .... has for many years (but so did Dean, in my opinion ... in regards to NCAAT success).
As a coach and fans that's what your suppose to do is win titles. This year many of us was glad we made it this far because we wasn't expected to. Duke lost and it was that didn't win a title its a bad year we are the same, this is Carolina after all. Last year the same was said and we have lost blowouts the last two years in sweet 16 and most feel that we overachieved which is not the case/Dean was not obsessed with winning every game he could. I read these two posts and I find it very hard to believe you graduated from UNC.After all though its amazes me how much including myself live daily lives feeding off what 18-21 year old kids do and our almost 80 year coaches haha
Haha, True. This dude keeps singing the praises of the rat lord, and keeps saying the Heels lost in the S16 last year.I read these two posts and I find it very hard to believe you graduated from UNC.
And that our coach is almost 80.Haha, True. This dude keeps singing the praises of the rat lord, and keeps saying the Heels lost in the S16 last year.
Yep! Lets not forget the Three Headed Center Dean had back in the 70's with Yonaker et al. I believe that team finished 1st or 2nd in the ACC and won the ACCT? Someone correct me if Im wrong. The old memory isnt as good as it once was.He does the least with the most .... has for many years (but so did Dean, in my opinion ... in regards to NCAAT success).

Only an idiot or someone who doesn't understand the game would use only a title to determine if a season was successful. If you have to win a title to have a successful year, then every coach in the history of the game is a massive failure. And he would have given the talent that got him to the games. Most of his near misses he was missing vital cogs in his offensive schemes. Hard to win that way. But I agree if just looking at Nattys he underachieved.I dont care what Dean's reasons were, he underachieved BIGTIME in the NCAAT. I loved the guy, played golf with him multiple times and attended his high school coaches camps throughout my childhood. He was incredible at player and person development, but he should have won at least 4 NCAA titles. IMO.
Good thing he didn't land another half dozen McDonald's All Americans during that time span. He might have gotten to a National Championship Game.

He did over coach himself and let Mike O'Koren sit on the bench with a liability like Buckley playing to long in the Marquette game. Thats the only one I put the total game on Coach.

Just curious what some of the older heels (I am in that category) feel about the '77 loss. Was it a game Smith may have over-coached from the bench and should be counted among the ones that got away or was it a game UNC really had no business even getting to because of the injuries? I look at it like the '84 and '12 seasons - really thought Carolina had the best team but injuries were too much to overcome.
Thats it! I kept trying to remember that phrase. Thanks for the memory.YonWolfSin
IIRC, we we up 8-10 points in ‘77, Dean went to the four corners, and our offense bogged down. Al McGuire said afterward that Dean’s decision to take the air out of the ball was what allowed Marquette to win, that they were really struggling to defend UNC’s offense before that.Just curious what some of the older heels (I am in that category) feel about the '77 loss. I think Dean did a helluva job getting that MASH unit of a team to the finals, and in position to win. Unfortunately, I also have to agree that he may have overthought things by going 4C and trying to milk that lead.IIRC, we we up 8-10 points in ‘77, Dean went to the four corners, and our offense bogged down. I do think Dean got a little too cute sometimes and overthought things.
