Women's Basketball

Just noticed from USA Today that Trayanna Crisp formerly from Arizona State will be joining the women's basketball team to replace the scoring loss of Deja Kelly and Paulina Paris. She averaged 12 points per game last season with a high of 23 points and 7 rebounds versus Washington.

Good pickup, need some more wings since the center position is in good hands, along with the guard positions.

Injuries' have been an issue with the guards over the past several season, let's hope that they can stay healthy which could elevate this team to a new heights. The front court should be good with some new players but inexperience, expect them to improve as the season progresses.

Watch clips of her (Destiny Jackson) and came away impressed with her ability. Not only her outside shooting, but her ability to penetrate to the basket and absorb contact and still make the shot. The women's team issue over the past several season is keeping PG's healthy, there has been moments when at least two of them have been on the injury list for most of the season. Let's hope she join the women's team, would be a great addition.

Well Destiny Jackson committed to Illinois, on to the next one. She probably looked at the PG's in front of her decided to go where there is less competition for a starting spot.

Don’t want to post something that isn’t allowed here but man I would love to see UNC play Oregon this year after what I just read on Twitter!!!

Yes it was and cliff note version of story was how she carried and put the program where it is now for last 3 years!!!

Granted she had some talent and contributed to the program, but how can a player carry a team when they shoot 30 times a game, without involving their teammates. There was some games where she shot less than 20% on her field goals attempts. Not to down grade her because she left, but her defense was never special. Wish her success at Oregon and nothing but the best, it was time for her to move on. Pretty sure Banghart did not try to talk her out of decision to move on.

Yeah, I read some of that. I'm not sure if she was intending to hate on UNC and/or make herself look like a great player, but she didn't do either. She came across as someone who was just whining and thinking she's better than she is. I wish her luck, but it was a bad look.

Looking at the roster this season, this team will be more competitive with Kelly moving on. There will be more of a team concept, and they could surprise some teams. With Stanford joining the conference, they will probably be the odds on favorite that everyone will be chasing.

Noticed that Banghart has another commitment from a Top 100 player ( Taissa Queiroz) ranked as the 76th overall player a 4 star wing from Santa Rosa, CA. Based upon the clips which I reviewed of her, she could become an excellent player for UNC. That's 3 recruits for 2025, not sure if there will be anymore.

Is it me or does it always seem like the women fail to show up in big statement type games year after year. Lost again to UConn tonight.

Watched the game tonight against UCONN and UNC women's team. Incredible game which was played in Greensboro. Unfortunately they lost to the number 2 team in the country, failing 69 to 58. Carolina went over 5 minutes in the 4th quarter without scoring. What was amazing about this team is they play tremendous defense, and they played most of the game with their young players on the court. Ustby and Donarski were basically a no factor, neither one played to the potentials. But one thing worth noting is Carolina has a lot of young talent on this team, and the future is bright. This Carolina team will be a tough out for anyone going forward, not only in the ACC but the NCAA tournament.
