And uk goes down again...

This is what a "friend" who is a UK fan posted on facebook last night.

"Coach Cal is heading into '10 Loss Tubby' territory!!! If any of these kids want to stay for next year please say no"

Guys, these Kitty fans and Cal deserve each other. They care NOTHING about people. This "fan" is actually saying if a 19 year old wants to stay in school he should be told no. This fan is wanting to just be rid of kids, why? so you can have a new batch of them? Unbelievable. Your freaking coach SUCKS dude. HE IS THE PROBLEM NOT THE KIDS! Delusional.

I say again...Moo west. Those fan bases are almost mirror images of each other. Except mooers have a few more teeth.

This is where kids go wrong. Unless you know you are OAD level, you should pick a coach who develops you, not one who markets you.

I'm convinced that Gabriel and SKJ would be doing better here. So would Bolden and DeLaurier, for that matter. Bolden was probably the only one of that group who should have considered himself OAD. Turns out he wasn't but he at least had some justification for thinking so. If not for injuries and being recruited over, he might have made it.

As for UK, they should finish 4-1 in their remaining games. Figuring they lose one of their road games. That leaves them 21-10 and 10-8 in the SEC. As Vanderbilt gets up to speed, they will have better depth up front.
UK could go 0-5. Saying should go 4-1 seems like a stretch. They have fallen apart tremendously.

They have 3 away wins on the entire year. Being at LSU Vanderbilt and West Virginia (2 of those games the opponent gave the game away by choking and LSU by 3).

Their only top 25 win is over West Virginia.

I still have zero idea how Kentucky is in the tournament.

Their top wins are

West Virginia
Louisville
Vermont
Virginia Tech

Only 1 of which was away.

They are going to finish with a losing record in the SEC. Have basically no road wins. And purposely played a lot of cupcakes in their nonconference. Their top teams played were obligations. Kansas, West Virginia, Louisville. Games they had to play and did not choose.

Vermont is a nonconference loss or two from falling from a good win also.

We'll see. I won't be shocked if they don't go 4-1 - but I still think they should. I'd even place a small wager on 3-2 or better.

They are clearly under-performing their hype and most folks' expectations. But I wouldn't want to play them.

The fun question for those of us who aren't fans is whether this year will tarnish Cal's reputation and hurt his ability to attract top talent. A few years ago it seemed like he could get anyone he wanted. K is also in that lofty position. But he's been slipping. Are kids wising up? Is Cal looking more at guys who will stick around? And if so, will he actually try to develop them?

I never could've imagined this downfall in 2012.

I hated, hated, hated the OAD rule because it gave carte blanche to a serial cheater to subvert the rules and win. (If the kids were turning down hundreds of thousands of dollars to play overseas for a year, there was a reason.) Now I'm starting to question whether or not I ever want it to go by the wayside.

Cal and k have pigeonholed themselves into worshipping the rights of kids who could not care less about their programs. They don't view it as a team, but instead as a "brand" - who could blame them?

Cal never cared about his true colors being shown, and if he's good for nothing else, at least he's been driven to the point of calling out k for the two-face that he is.

There is a rock bottom that can be reached for these two fine fellas and maybe the OAD rule can serve that purpose.

Will losing tarnish Kals rep, GREAT question! I think it may already have, notice duke has over taken them on the recruiting front, their fans are getting restless (as nicely as I could put it). His faults are showing thru these cracks, mainly that he is at most an average coach (yet again my being overly nice). These kids cluster to certain programs because in their minds doing so increases their chances of winning while in college and thus completing their NBA resumes, they will not continue to do that at a program that can not win at the highest of levels. Thus, you are already able to see kids saying no the Ky when not to long ago they all said yes, Kal was able to select and everyone else fought for the left overs. The shine is wearing off what that Anthony Davis team did and all the sudden some of their 5star kids are not on NBAs radar as they once were. I think not winning it all with that Karl Townes team made a lot of kid look again at Ky and realize maybe that isn't the place I can go if they could not win it with that stocked roster.

I think we have already seen a decline in the talent they are bringing in and 2018 class looks even weaker than their current crop of frosh. Kal's agent is very likely talking to NBA teams as we speak because the natives are getting restless in Ky and Kal has already set the bar for them, he may suffer from that bar being set to high because of his own hype!

Hows this for irony. Coach Cal is actually better at coaching OAD teams than K (he gets them to play D for one). But K has started dominating the elite guys, so UK only gets second-rate 5 stars.

Elite OADs go to Duke and play 0 D. Second-rate OADs go to UK and can't score.

We call that best case scenario.

It looks like it won't get any better for them by next year either. What they have coming in next year isn't as good as this year and they have virtually zero targets left, barring an unforeseen Top 15 decommitment. They'll likely lose Shai, Ham, and Knox.

I suppose a sophomore PJ or Vanderbilt would help, assuming they don't squeeze into the first round this year. And neither SKJ or Gabriel have shown vast improvement from their Frosh to Sophomore year.

That's what happens, when the FBI starts paying attention & you're afraid to continue paying players. Apparently, our next door neighbors haven't gotten the memo.

According to a few people on Rupp Rafters, UK will go 40-0 next year if everyone comes back. You know, just like the Towns / Booker team did.

They have to hope to not play Duke. Both teams can't have a perfect season. :p

Regardless of their final record, the name on the front of the jersey will get them into the NCAA tournament.

I don’t know about that. It didn’t get them in a few years ago and they probably should’ve been in.

Yeah, it must be tough to only be reeling in the 2nd best class the last couple of years!

Everybody’s getting beat this year. It’s not just UNC, Duke and Kentucky it’s everyone.

I have watched Purdue a couple of games, thought they looked good, but Cinci at a #5, I thought they were a tad bit over rated...OSU was a good win for us.

Looking at their schedule, they have Alabama after Auburn. Can I get greedy & hope for 5 straight?

If Alabama wins, uk will be a bit closer to an NIT bid... Come on BAMA! ;)

Back to reality, they will barely make the NCAA's. I would love for the committee to pair them up with dook. I would pay BIG money to see Trip-son Allen push off, hit a last-second, hook-shot, (from half court) banked in for the win - taking uk down another peg.

The uk fan base would implode. :)
