We have discussed this for years. I was proposing it long before the ACC ever tried to get the NCAA to accept it.
To refresh - with a 14 team league playing 8 conference games, No division scheduling would be 3+5 (5). That means that each team would have 3 annual rivals and then play 5 of the remaining 10 league members each year.
UNC's 3 annual rivals are obvious: UVA, Dook, Moo. Then the rest of the league would be divided into 2 groups of five, say: Group A - BC, Louisville, Wake, Clemson, FSU; Group B - Syracuse, Pitt, VT, GT, Miami.
In terms of scheduling, that means that every team plays every other team at least twice over 4 years.
The two best league records make the CCG.
That is best for the ACC and SEC and Big Ten.
By the way, the NCAA proposal was voted down because of the Big Ten leading the opposition. I think the main reason was fear that such a loosening of rules would make it easier for ND to go full member in football.
