Any word on Loves and Kesslers visit this weeked

While it’d be nice to get love, if we don’t, it certainly will not be bad. We now project to have one of if not the best frontcourts for the next few years and will have solid options on the perimeter with or without him. We’ll have leaky, ant, platek, Francis and Roy will certainly find some some peeps to take our remaining schollys even if it isn’t any other 5 stars, although I do expect us to get at least one more long term target. Every year at the end of the cycle Roy pulls in dudes like Kenny Williams, garrison brooks, ant Harris, grad transfers to fill our needs if the top targets don’t pan out.

OK, so a couple things just have to be said folks...First, did I really see someone suggesting brooks could skip his sr season and go league??? Exactly what have you seen so far that indicates that as remotely likely? His so far shown skill set just is not what the NBA is jumping on, he is a solid college player, I do think he will become an even better college player this season but the NBA is much more about scorers than anything else, if you are not a very good scorer then you have to have a size mismatch that makes you a problem.
Bacot will be 1&D and he has already let Roy know this? LOL, come on man, of course he would LOVE to be 1&D, every freshman in the country dreams about that. But just wanting to be 1&D is not enough, you have to blow away the comp at the college level just to get in the 1st round. Even more for a big man you have to bring extreme leaping or extreme power to go along with a scorers touch, better be a big time athlete, not convinced that describes Bacot. While he could play to that level, I need to see it before I jump that Bacot 1&D band wagon. NBA teams simply do not place a lot of emphasis on the center position any more.
Now I love that we got Kessler wrapped up but truth is, just being 7ft is not enough, need to see if his outside shooting translates to this level, if it does then maybe but for now I am hold on his being a 1&D.
Kessler, I had consistently heard was closer to us that anyone was reporting, couple SEC programs he was as well close to but the duke media pimps went in to over drive and unfortunately to few questioned it. kessler came to us for 3 main reasons. First, he and his family realize, he needs a lot of development and maturity in the game, Roy's players consistently get better over time. Our system is a big man system, Roy has been forced to go to more small ball last couple years simply because we had a lack of big men able and ready to produce. Next, the kid, like most kids, wants to win at a big time level while in college, wants a solid shot at a natty. With all the ballyhoo that the media pimps play in to duke and Ky, simple fact is we are the team going to final 4s and winning nattys and doing it with lesser talents that have gained experience. hey, congrats to duke and Ky for winning the recruiting titles but I prefer the final 4s and nattys from Roy's teams. And finally, our business school is very intriguing to the kid and his family, ours is world class! These are the things I had been hearing for a good while but no one wanted to hear that, folks already had him signed and sealed to the dukies...

I would love to get Puff, Love, and Zaire! (This does not mean I would NOT love some of our other more celebrated targets) This would round out the class with elite + talented glue just like Roy loves! But I am very excited about all our realistic targets and with what we already have, we could totally whiff on them all and still be a favorite to cut some FF nets!
This. He's done well for us and is developing nicely. Maybe, just maybe, he could have that proverbial breakout season this year. But there's not much reason to think so.
He's going to be good for us. Maybe very good, now that he'll play more minutes (but not all) at his natural position. But it's unlikely he'll be good enough to leave early.
I think a good target for Garrison as a junior would be to make it on the 3rd Team All-ACC. That won't be easy. But it's a worthy goal.
As a senior, he should play all his minutes at his preferred position. If he's going to end up in the NBA, that's when it will probably happen.
Just my opinion.
I don't think his outside shooting (or lack thereof) will keep him from going pro.
I'm still waiting to see the impact of the new line on outside shooting. Sure, everybody who wants to shoot from deep will have been practicing. But the simple truth is that some who were good in HS won't be able to add that much distance to their shot with the necessary accuracy.
I don't have any grounds for thinking this, but I suspect bigs will have more trouble with the changed arc than the folks we normally think of as outside shooters.
I think he might can (realistically) do better than that. This is the first year that he will have a summer to work on his natural position and the first year he will not constantly be undersized in his match ups. Gotta love Garrison for sucking it up and doing what he needed to do to help the team but hopefully from here on he can grow and develop in his natural position. You gotta appreciate the sacrifices he's made for the team and I'm glad he was there when we needed him. jmho

Does this end our commitments until spring. I’m sure the staff will wait to be certain that Bacot leaves and leave that open in case he comes back because you never know what may happen in a season. With that said we only have two more spots after Love now and being Cade and Zaire
