Anybody Drinking Today . . . ?

All this drinking and I gotta take a leak. @BillyL , do I gotta use the men's room, or is this one of those "choose your own adventure" establishments?

I'm not sure how I've never had the Julius Peppers - but that is right up my alley.

I'll pull up a seat at Billy's OOTBar that's for sure. Here, I'll give you a nice tip to start things off:

Now, keep those Scotch's on the rocks flowin'....

I don't know of a lot of scotch drinkers. An acquired taste for sure. I've been known to knock a few back .. What's your fancy?

An acquired taste for sure. I'm a Bourbon fan as well, so I really like the Speyside Scotches that are double cask matured - in an ex-bourbon and then a sherry barrel. Like Balvenie 12 Doublewood and Aberlour 12. And I would recommend those for the people out there looking to get into Scotch (not sure if there actually are any of those here).

I've recently been dabbling in the Islays as well. The real peatty and smokey ones can taste like you're drinking an ash tray to some - but in the right occasion can really tickle my fancy. Ardbeg 10 is one of my favorites there. What's your preference?

I am way, way too unsophisticated to drink Scotch. I'll stick to my Evan Williams.

(Though when I do feel like treating myself, I splurge for Buffalo Trace).

Man I need to broaden my selection it sounds like. I haven't had the opportunity to try any of those mentioned, but will be on the look out the next trip. One of my faults is I'm a creature of habit and if I find something I like I usually don't stray away from it. Johnnie Walker Black has been my favorite I've tried thus far. Dewar's White Lab Scratched Cask (not just the regular white label) is also good. I've kind of moved more to bourbon these days, and as mentioned, my favorite is Woodford Reserve (and really not that expensive). If I'm low on cash I'll turn to Jefferson's Small Batch (like $30 a fifth down here). At my local watering hole my bartender let me try Jefferson's Ocean "Aged at Sea" and let me tell ya FANTASTIC. Down here that mess is $100 a fifth and $20 a shot at about any bar so I haven't exactly tried it again.

I've got to figure out some way to retire. You guys have been drinking half the day and I still have to work until 6:00.
I'm still at work too. Was fixin to leave and then the warehouse guys came running in and said they didn't receive a specific shipment today. So now I've gotta make a bunch of phone calls and yell at people instead of sitting by the pool and drankin...

Sorry, hope you have a good weekend.

Well, it looks like some of the early guys are sleeping it off...lol

Johnnie and Dewar's are blended scotch. The ones I listed were single malts, so they may be a little different than you're used to in the Scotch department. The problem with single malts is they can be kind of expensive, so I try to watch my spending on them. What I usually do is have one nice single malt to start off the night - then switch over to cheaper bourbon or beers to finish the job (since by the end I wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyways).

and the job would be Buzzing...plastered.....out cold?

Damn! I am under Doctors orders not to drink for the next few weeks. My liver functions are way to high. Went to get blood tested again today. We'll see. I had epilepsy as a kid and all drugs I had to take as a kid screwed up my liver.

Shirley Temple for me. Blah!

I wouldn't mind one of these later

Absolutely hands down my favorite sippin drink
Let's all be friends. Absolutely hands down my favorite sippin drink as well (although we did pass around shots of it to some good ol' boys we were playing beer pong with before the Pitt game a couple years ago). Can't say I've tried every bourbon under the sun, but considering its price and quality this has to be one of the best values out there.

toophly, I see you liking our poasts on Radar and creeping around OOTB from time to time. Come join us. We are hands down the best sippin board on THI and have been adding some great new members lately.

I think I may try to make a home over here. You guys have brought back some sanity that I thought I once lost bc of radar.

Hell yea Billy my gf calls me obnoxious all the time so maybe I'll fit in.

Tooph played in the bowl pick em. He's just a man of few words, me thinks.

Yea that was one of the first times I ventured over here. I used to be around a lot more when radar was fun, but now not so much. I mainly lurk over there and spend most of my time just shaking my head and face palming bc of a certain few guys. You guys seem to have a lot of fun so maybe I'll start poasting more often.

Thanks guys!

Is there such a thing as "Scotch dick?" I need to know these things before diving in to the world of scotch

Well it is Scotch Whiskey so I think it'd be a similar effect.

As 71 said though - it can get kind of expensive, especially if you order it at a bar. I generally only drink it from my own collection as opposed to out at a bar (unless someone else is picking up the tab of course). And also - it is definitely one of those liquors that really "warm you up", so I agree it's better in the winter than the summer.
