I watched my last half of Carolina basketball for the year yesterday. It was all I needed to confirm that this team doesn't care enough to do the things IT CAN CONTROL to put a competitive team on the floor.

This version of Carolina basketball cannot control that the university and coaching staff failed to secure a Carolina level big man or two. It cannot control that our guards are tiny, our portal win doesn't shoot three's as advertised or that our head coach has neither the knowledge or experience to run a program of (what once was) this stature.

What the DO have control over is effort, fight, and pride. REBOUNDING and defense are 90% effort. It appears to me as many on this team have already quit. Of course I prefer to win, but if we are outclassed (like we were at dook), I at least want the other team to know they were in a fight. What I saw last night looked like we had given up before we started. What I saw last night was not a Carolina basketball team, it was not even a team. It was a bunch of individuals trying to get theirs and audition for whatever they think their next step is.

It has been said a hundred times on these boards. Hubert is a fantastic guy by all accounts, but he is not the person for this job. It seems clear that, you will not get different results by running the same sets and defenses that you have all year. You can only go to your post game presser and throw your players under the bus so many times before the onus is on you to change and put your players in positions to do things they do well.

I am way past disappointed, flew by angry, spent some time on sad, and now I am no better than many of the players on the team appear to be. If they don't care, why should I.

UNC basketball has brought me enjoyment, pride, anticipation and enthusiasm for over 45 years. Right now it does none of that.

The only question we need to ask to determine if we have a coaching issue is.

Is this team better today than they were on November 4th?

Size, and NIL is an excuse. No one expected this team to be Final Four good but we should never be this bad in the worst ACC field in 50 years.

Refreshing to see these types of posts as opposed to "Hubs", "Carolina Way" and "Family" in post after post.

For too long certain posters here have chosen to see things how they once were and thinking those ways would remain the end all be all. Those times have past, they are gone and in the new college athletic landscape, are not returning.

I sincerely hope the powers that be do what is necessary and hire those that are QUALIFIED to run the basketball program. Not a legacy hire, not a bench full of alumni, not a FAMILY member, but those that can right this ship no matter what their diploma says.

Even more sobering when you consider how close we are to 4-9 (instead of 7-6). If the Heels hadn't pulled games outta their arse against ND, moo, BC, Pitt then we'd be in the bottom four of the conference, which means you get left out of the ACCT altogether!
