Our fall trip to Ocracoke was delayed this year because of Florence and rescheduled to this week. Coming down we made a 40 mile detour to Graddy’s BBQ.in Dudley. The bbq was great, I would put it fourth behind Skylight, Wilber’s, and Lexington. Sides were real good, typical eastern....carry on

Tell me about it, where is it?

Just outside of clemson, over towards Anderson. Got an honorable mention as the best college game day bbq in the country. Seriously delicious BBQ and the sides are always on point. There’s usually a line around the building at dinner time

Ya gotta go to the Pendleton location near clemson IMO

Mustard based?

To be fair to mustard based sauce, almost everyone on here is a BBQ snob. This board doesn't give it the best chance to succeed.

Vinegar based is obviously best, but I’d take mustard based over that molasses based sauce
Yeah, I’m no fan of sweet either. Have any of you ever ate at Ridgewood? It is right over the state Line in TN? They use a sweet sauce. It taste a lot like the bone sucking sauce that you see everywhere.

I haven't had Scott's. Also, I've been known to eat Smithfield's BBQ so probably can't be trusted anyway.

As I have also . . so, you would recommend Pig Whistle sauce, is that correct . . ? I like to try different stuff all the time, but, being here in NoVA, I haveta order it.

Hey RH, or anyone else in the know here, I don't know anything about the Pig Whistle sauce, can you compare it to the Scott's barbecue sauce if you've had both . . . TIA
@UNC '92 stopped by Picnic in Durham Saturday and brought BBQ and the fixings to the tailgate. He brought some of their Pig Whistle Sauce too, and it was all GOOD!

Okay . . I thank you for that. I'm gonna try some . . !
Billy, a correction is in order. I was reading the ingredients last night and there's actually tomato sauce in there, too. It definitely plays second fiddle to the vinegar but gives the sauce a little more body than a vinegar-only base.

From their website: "The debate is over, this sauce resolves the North Carolina barbecue feud -- a little bit east, a little bit west, and a whole lotta delicious. I call it the Great Carolina Compromise."

I don't disagree with a word of that.

That's how I've started making mine. It comes out a lot like Smithfield's sauce, but hell I like that stuff.

Exactly. This is just a nice hybrid of east/west. The vinegar comes through nicely and the body helps it "stick" a little better and does nothing to take away from that flavor the eastern folks enjoy.

@BillyL definitely order this from their store. I keep it coming to my place. I've also used it to replace my mop sauces when I'm smoking butts, shoulders or whole hogs.

We just got back yesterday also. Ate at Dajios, smacnallies, Howard's and Jason's. and spent quite a bit of our afternoons at Zillie's or the new brewery. You were there the best days in a while weather wise. They didn't get much rain but the wind was brutal last Wednesday and Thursday.

They've been doing some beach reclamation at my family's place at N. Topsail and I wanted to go check it out. I was out there last week and the wind was as bad as I've ever seen it without a hurricane coming in. I swear a couple of gusts nearly shoved me across the deck.

But we got a lot more beach, lol.
