They've been doing some beach reclamation at my family's place at N. Topsail and I wanted to go check it out. I was out there last week and the wind was as bad as I've ever seen it without a hurricane coming in. I swear a couple of gusts nearly shoved me across the deck.

But we got a lot more beach, lol.

Yeah, they stopped the ferries from Ocracoke to Cedar Island and Swan Quarter last Thursday because of high wind.
