Berry is the best PG in the country..

Smooth, there are times when you start a thread and I think: "yeah, well that's obvious" and don't post on the thread.
This time though, I want to concur with your obviousness and second your opinion.

Gonna take off my CB shades and have to disagree here. I love JB and he's top 5ish for sure, but Monte Morris is REALLY good. So is Markelle Fultz. I'll throw DSJ and and FM3 to round out my top 5.

Morris and Fultz are 1 and 1a to me.

Stats:
JB MM
FG: 45% 48%
3P% 38% 36%
FT: 87% 73%
REB: 3.4 3.9
Asst: 3.8 6.9
STL: 1.5 1.8
PTS: 12.8 13.8

MF is a high school player and can't possibly be better than JB. MM has TWO stats where he is significantly better than JB and TWO where he is worse..hmmmm (If you add that MM is a year older you see where I'm going with this)

I think I'll go with Smooth!

Go Tar Heels!

I understand where you coming from, but you never know with freshman PGs.

You guys are making comments on a player you haven't watched (and I'll bet most haven't seen Morris either). Just wait, these two are VERY good.

I love JB. He's top 5.

I'll pUT trimble from Maryland before I put an unproven freshman pg in my top 5 as of right now.....just last year Malik Newman was the top ranked PG and several was high on him bring top 5. We saw how that played out.

I love me some Joel Berry, I really do, he is on my ACC first team above Perrentes and I do believe Joel may be the best fitting PG for us but I do have to pull off my UNC blinders on this question. To me, don't know if he will be the best PG in college this season but if I am a NBA GM and my team needed a PG from the next draft, I am taking one of 3 guys if they are available.

In order I would have to take 1) Lonzo Ball, 2) Dennis Smith 3) Fultz
After that it is a harder call IMO between Fox, Morris, and Joel.

I don't even consider pro prospects. I think it has more to do with what I've seen with my own eyes. I've seen all the players mentioned play on TV and I still think JB will be the best PG in College next year! I think the other peeps are excellent in their own right, but I think it is silly and bordering on stupid to expect a freshman to best established STARS b4 they even play a game in college.

Does production and team success have nothing to do with ranking a PG? I thought it was common knowledge that PGs and QBs are rated because of their stats AND their team success equally! Where was Morris' team at the end of last year? And did Fultz's HIGH SCHOOL All Star Team win anything? Who has seen DS even play against real competition?

Pro prospects would clearly change the order I admit freely, but that wasn't the premise.

Spot on.

I admittedly haven't seen Ball much to make an opinion on him.

I've got Fultz over DSJ by a quite a bit. Every time I've seen Fultz no one has been able to stop him. Morris is a GREAT college PG.

I don't believe the NBA has anything to do with the original premise, and is more or less meaningless when it comes to the efficacy of college PGs.

Can we all just be happy that we have one of the very best PGs in the country . . ? I so much hope that Mr. Berry has his jersey hanging in the rafters after he leaves year after next * . .

* National title in hand, I couldn't blame him for going league, though I truly believe he's gonna be here for 4.

I'm thrilled! JB is the perfect PG for our team and I wouldn't take anybody for him!

Forgot about Ball and Fultz did look good against high school players!

I live in Iowa and I've seen a lot of Monte Morris live..I'd take Berry all day. Berry is so much stronger and aggressive/better shooter/defender--we'll see another level from Joel this year and we're gonna very happy to see how much he's improved even after such a great finish to last year--wouldn't trade him for ANYONE!

You're right about that Blue Hup...JB had some series stats through his last nine games last season.
When the game gets tight take a look at his eyes...

Well, for me to answer this question I have to consider the potential of a kid that has outstanding size and shows off crazy off the chain talent. If a kid is a John Wall coming to college and has that crazy size mismatch and a skill set like that then I have to consider if they are NBA ready they are college ready to.

Bottom line is Joel lead us to the title game last season and for me it is much more about what the team does and not so much about what an individual players does one on one. Joel is to me a great team leader, floor general, that doesn't always show itself up when they look at individual honors, it shows itself more in team success and that is more where Joel's head has always been.

And that is why he had a great finish to last season. Team first, involves everyone and takes the lead when necessary. If he has a season this year like his last nine games, he's likely to be in the NBA, ya know?

A lot of freshman that get label "NBA Ready" do not produce in college. Skal from Kentucky or Malik Newman ringing any bells.

Are we not? We're debating top 5 PG's which is an interesting topic. We all have shared our opinions respectfully and we all agree JB is in that top 5.

We're happy.
