Berry/Pinson Appreciation Thread

Right. Dookbag barely deserves a response, but we could start with JB leading team to two title games, and scoring over 20 points in both** - nobody has done that since Bill Walton. Probably like 40 years ago, right?

How is it a stretch? Is reading that difficult? The announcer said best COLLEGE player (that means his FOUR years in college, obviously). He's not saying "most gifted player this year or in any one year in a quick stop rental in college before heading to the NBA - then there would be plenty of guys from Dook and UK on that list, but so what? Durham and Lexington are short term addresses these guys use to showcase their game for the NBA draft, but what does this have to do with those colleges or with the player as a college player? Does Dook or UK take pride in being a short-term stop for the OADs on the way to the NBA? Why? Its not like the kids develop or learn a significant amount at these schools. Or not like any long term bonds, friendships, LEADERSHIP, sacrifice, is achieved. No family or brotherhood. Use of that term by Dook is downright comical.

Tell ya what, Dookie - go ahead and make a list of college players in last twenty years with the accomplishments over their college careers, that meet or surpass Joel's. It'll be hard to name any. Most players who accomplished half of what Joel did, had moved on to the NBA.
Let me just make a list for you of Tar Heels in the last 20 years who made an All America list (note: Joel Berry is not one of them)

-Justin Jackson
-Brice Johnson
-Marcus Paige
-Tyler Zeller
-Kendall Marshall
-Harrison Barnes
-Ty Lawson
-Tyler Hansbrough
-Rashad McCants
-Sean May
-Raymond Felton
-Joseph Forte
-Brendan Haywood
-Shammod Williams
-Vince Carter
-Antawn Jamison

If I were to include other schools, this list would be 50 times longer.
My point was this: Joel Berry was not “one of the great college players of the last 20 years” unless that list is a mile long or the author meant 2 years

Seriously, go somewhere else. You don't have the first clue what you're talking about.

Arguing over greatest players is the quintessential sports debate. But look, I get it. This is an appreciation thread and I don’t mean to take away from that. Maybe another time or another thread we can continue this discourse...
