Best concert you've ever been to

w
I agree. I'll go see a band in a coliseum or stadium because that's usually the only thing the big name bands play in, but I love the smaller venues. My favorite place to see a concert is the house of blues in myrtle beach. The Masquerade in Atlanta is a good one too. It's a complete shit hole, but the atmosphere is great. I'm sure @TarHeelNation11 can back me up on that one.

I've seen a couple shows at the House of Blues at Myrtle (GWAR being one them). I agree. That place is a dump but does kick ass.

I saw them in Zebulon on what must have been the same tour. Willie was great; Bob completely mailed it in and I was really bummed as a big fan of his work.

Yep. Sounds like it was the same tour. Because that was my experience too. Bob was not very good and Willie carried the day. But if I recall correctly, Bob didn't play any guitar that day and I think I remember hearing that he was having some bad arthritis problems during that tour.

Got to see B.B. King at age 82 at House of Blues Myrtle Beach. Had a great spot up on the balcony where we could see him well. He was cool, and I was thrilled to get to see such a legend.

I'll try to forgive Bob if he was hurting, but he also just kind of growled out all the lyrics in a monotone. Arwen said he was MUCH better when she saw him in (I think) the late '90s.

I've seen Bob live about 10 times and I'd say that in about half of those shows, he was how you described him. But that's Bob. That's kind of the charm of Bob. Hell, he's like that on many of his albums. I don't think any of us like Bob for his singing.

OZZFEST-2005 Charlotte-Black Sabbath, Slayer, Mudvayne, BLS, Mastadon, Killswitch Engage, Rob Zombie, The Black Dahlia Murder.

I've seen ICP over 15 times. That's always a great time.

Alright OOTB concert goers. What's the best concert you've ever been to? Mine would be the summer sanitarium tour featuring Metallica, korn, kid rock, system of a down and powerman 5000.

Top three

ZZTop @ Cumberland County Memorial Arena in Fayetteville 1982
Cheap Trick, Saxon, Krokus @ Memorial Hall in Kansas City 1982
Buzzcocks @ The Ritz in NYC 1989

Worst one i’ve ever been to was van halen in greensboro. They managed to be too loud for a rock concert. They were so loud we couldnt tell what song they were playing. Plus they looked bored as hell. We left early with partial hearing loss that lasted for several days.

Anyone here see jimmy buffet at springfest in chapel hill in ‘79? He came out in a tarheel football jersey and barfed on stage but didnt miss a beat.

Saw nantucket in a small place near raleigh in the 80’s and my then future wife jumped up on stage, danced and flashed her tits before we were thrown out. Ahhhhh the good old days.

Greatest concert moment: At Bruce Springsteen his sax player was a big black guy in an orange suit. He had this awesome sax solo and during it he was slowly gradually bending down to one knee. At the last second bruce who was across the stage whipped out a hanky which i guess was weighted and flipped it across the stage to end up right under the sax players knee before it touched the floor. Place went fuking nuts!

And here's a look at @heelmanwilm's reaction to that moment

I've probably only been to about five in my life, so my choices are limited. Either Trans-Siberian Orchestra a few years ago or the Billy Joel/Elton John Face-to-Face Tour. Both were in Charlotte.

That was YOUR wife??? Wow!

I am almost 50 now and have been to one concert , went to see James Taylor at the Greensboro Coliseum in 2016. Really enjoyed it. Most of the time though if Some one I want to go see comes to North Carolina it is to Raleigh or Charlotte and I refuse to go out of town for a concert.

If you live in Elizabethtown and refuse to leave town for a concert, your opportunities for seeing them are very slim.

Refusing to go out of town for a concert is the strangest thing I’ve ever heard. The road trip is part of the fun

Depends on where you live though. If you're in a big city, then you never need to go out of town. I'm with you on the road trip being fun though. It's also nice to go to different venues and see what they're like. My favorite place to see a concert is the house of blues in Myrtle Beach. Would have never known that if I didn't go out of town.

I've been to a James Taylor concert. Not really on purpose though. Look, I like JT as much as the next guy (as long as you aren't the next guy) but his concert should be treated as a peripheral activity to something better. Which is what it was for me when I attended. It was my wife's birthday and another woman we know so a lot of us were meeting in Raleigh. We kind of viewed his concert as background music for our social gathering.

Haha - Good observation.

Its highly unlikely that you will leave a JT concert with tinnitus.
