Big family trip

We'll be in San Diego for 3 days before renting a car and driving up to Orange Co. to see some family. After that, we want to hit Yosemite, South Lake Tahoe and then to San Francisco before heading home.
Forgot to address this part of the question. Not to be patronizing -- you probably have internet access -- but that's a lot of driving. If you're only going to be out there a week that's a lot of time together in the car. Yosemite is definitely worth the trip though.

On the way from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe, you might want to check out Bodie State Historic Park. It's an abandoned, only mildly creepy gold mining town. The kids might get a kick out of it.

Lake Tahoe and SF are great places to visit, too. Good luck cramming all that in, giggity.

Man, there's so much to like in this thread. I feel bad that I just can't.

1 - Thanks @Raising Heel
2 - While Terrapin Station is my favorite Dead album, I still vote no.
3 - @BillyL , I can certainly do the ol' asking a bartender but yeah, I was looking for the Chronic and I'm not talking about the Dre album. But if there are no stores yet, I guess I'll do what I gotta do. Or maybe I will have developed glaucoma on the ride out and I'll see a doc at one of those emergency care places.

Yes stores aren't open out there yet, they're not open in MA either. It's pretty easy to get though, via apps on your phone and/or good old craigslist. The dispensaries will generally have it listed if they'll sell to you w/o a card.

For instance you'll see something like:

420 buds
- Medical
Smoke 'em if you got 'em
- Medical
Toke n' Choke
- Medical, Recreational

Obviously you want to go to one of the ones with "Recreational" in their description.

I can only speak to Yosemite. Late June, it's gonna be hot. Like upper 90s easily in the Valley with some relief at higher elevations. Don't know how much time you plan to spend there but definitely check out Glacier Point. If the family can hike for several hours take the shuttle up there and hike the Panorama Trail down. But, take a LOT of water with you. Many of the well know attractions require little, if any, hiking.

You ave to go to Slater's 50/50 in San Diego. Only because the world revolves around bacon and your life would not be complete.

San Diego is one of my favorite places on the planet. Unfortunately everyone else agrees and people screw everything up. Lived in Mission Beach for about 18 months a hundred years ago.

And jftr @Raising Heel, I've had some fantastic times in Mobile! Lived through a few hazy Mardi Gras down there. IIRC, it's been going on in Mobile about 15 years longer than Nawlins. Love those beaches,

Definitely recommend Balboa Park in the heart of the city. It's a beautiful park to just hang out in, but there are also dozens of attractions inside the park like museums, gardens, and the San Diego Zoo. The kids probably aren't into the first two, but the SD Zoo is probably the best I've ever visited.
.
Never been but I've heard their zoo ranks right up there with some of the best zoos in the world.
