Bill Maher crushes some of the #MeToo movement

I always enjoy the wisdom and insight of Bill Maher. As usual, he hits the nail on the head repeatedly in this video. Thanks for posting.

Well said and very insightful. I agree with all of what he said.

Degrees, context, intent, are all helpful in making the relative become the specific. I really liked when he challenged Minnie Driver with "If given the choice between being raped and just seeing a penis, you'd choose the latter." It doesn't make either of them acceptable behavior (non-consensual, that is). But, it does help to clarify that not everything is the same. I understand the impetus for the #metoo philosophy. It deserves consideration and respect. But, as with just about everything, keep it in perspective.

I have met women (well, I met one and have heard of others) who actually have "rape fantasies." When I first heard about that from a girl I was seeing about 8 years ago, I was like "WTF are you talking about??? Are you out of your mind? Check, please!" I got a mean retort of "You're not open-minded at all!" I said, "Yes, I am. I'm open to you wanting that fantasy. I'm just not willing to oblige and fulfill it. I don't like to grey the line between fantasy and reality when it comes to rape. Find another guy to play that role. It's ain't me, babe." I still have a difficult time understanding how, or why, a woman would have such a fantasy. To me, that might contribute to real rapes hanging around. Maybe not! But, I don't even consider playing the "Let's pretend you rape me" thing. No... fvcking... way.

It's astonishingly common. in fact I'd be willing to throw out a guess that greater than 50% of the female population would be turned on by the idea of a man forcing themselves on her. The problem with that statement is that the man attacking her in her fantasy very rarely looks anything like a real life rapist (see. Weinstein, H.).

The vast majority of primate sex is not consensual. No reason to assume women wouldn't have some kind of neurophysiology that would trigger sexual arousal in that situation since that would increase the chances of conception. This is one reason why so many feminists attack evolutionary biology/psychology.
