CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Behind a strong performance from freshman starter Brett Daniels, the Blue team defeated the Navy team 9-2 to secure a series victory on the first weekend of this year's Fall World Series.

Daniels allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six in his six innings of work and another early offensive blow by the Blue team backed up the young right-hander.

After a quiet first inning, the Blue team got the scoring started in the bottom of the second when sophomore catcher Adrian Chacon crushed a solo home run to lead off the inning.

And the Blue team was just getting started. It sent 12 batters to the plate and took advantage of three walks and two errors by the Navy team to plate seven more runs and take an 8-0 lead heading into the third.

Freshman Jackson Bellenkes came on in relief for the Navy team to finish the second inning and allowed just one run and no hits while striking out three through the next three innings.

After managing just two hits in the first five innings, the Navy team finally got on the board in the sixth when it scored two runs on three hits, including an RBI single to left by freshman Brian Miller and an RBI double by sophomore Adam Pate.

Chacon went 3-for-3 for the Blue team, adding two singles to his second inning home run blast, and was one of four players on the Blue team with two RBIs.
