Brandon Robinson???

I repeat: JB, JJ, TP, KM. IH. (I see some of you coming around, lol)This is based on their performance last year, expected improvement in certain peeps(JJ more Alpha, TP shooting/handes better, KM playing with confidence and smarts, IH fouling less, JB more of the same), AND Roy's history!

Why would we need more shooting from the 2 IF our 1 and 3 hit a good percentage? Why would we need more handles if 1-3 can all handle? What are other teams going to do if all 5 positions can rebound AND defend?

Go Tar Heels!

Why didn't Roy use Theo to sub for Marcus late last season as opposed to using him at the 4?

My guess is that was due to Kennedy Meeks being a much more glaring weakness than Marcus. But I think that Pinson is better suited to the 3/4 than he is to the 2 anyways.

Hark, that was a loaded question because I know the reason, Roy adjusted based on who he had and what the team needed. Last years team needed strong outside shooting because we didn't have that twin tower inside easy scoring assembly we have had so often in the past. You can get away with a weak jump shooting Jackie Manual for example when you can dump it in to a Sean May and bank on him or Jawad stepping outside or the sweet shooting what is his name drilling it from the wing, as well as Ray.

The problem is we didn't have a Sean May last season that you could dump in to for easy scores, Brice stepped up big for us, Hicks played well when he was not in foul trouble but stayed in foul trouble way to much. We got very little scoring from our center spot so that placed more of a premium on outside jump shooting. Both Justin and Marcus struggled with their shots last season but in their defense both were defended as strong shooters.

I think it is even more important for us to shoot well from the outside this coming season simply because brice is not there to cash in those mid range shots that carried us so often and we can not bank on Tony, Hicks, or Meeks to replace his scoring. We can hope for that but we can't bank on that.

I love Theo being able to drag a defending 4 out top in to isolation, Theo has that advantage every time but Theo ball handling vs a 2 guard is advantage 2 guard when Theo puts the ball on the floor. Theo can play over the top of most 2 guards for sure but I for one would much rather he drag a defending big out top and away from rebounding position and move around him and then pass it, like we watched him do late season and thru the post season. If Theo were a knock down jump shooter then absolutely shoot over the shorter 2 guards but that isn't Theo right now, maybe one day, not today.

Right, which is why I'd much prefer Theo take a good amount of Kennedy's minutes (assuming Isaiah would then slide to the 5 making Theo the 4), as opposed to taking our 2 guards minutes. Although that's because I wouldn't want to take KW, SW, BR minutes from the 2 since (I'm assuming) they'll all be better jump shooters. Since the reality is Britt will be the 2 guard - I'd rather have Theo take his minutes I think.

And my brother you are talking about our small ball look which I ABSOLUTLY LOVE, I think it will work GREAT with Hicks or Tony, and either Kenny/Brob/7th at the 2 !

Couldn't agree more with this. And after watching the Alumni games a couple of times, I agree with Dave that the small lineup could be very effective with Joel, a SG, JJ at SF, Theo at PF, and either Brice or Tony at center.

Tony showed me he could carve into Kennedy's minutes if Kennedy doesn't step up his game. He shows signs of being a good rebounder and already moves better than Kennedy does without the ball. He showed a nice up and under move on offense. Tony is ready to help right away.

Last year's team had different personnel than this year which is why I didn't say TP should play 2 then. I believe Meeks will play better now that he is healthy AND had a wake up call in the draft workouts. I believe Hicks will play more relaxed now that he doesn't have to look over his shoulder. Hesitation leads to silly fouls as you try to figure out what will please the coach instead of just playing ball. He is also working on moving his feet as well on D as he does on O. I believe TB will be able to play with either Meeks or Hicks or as the lone big this season too. I believe Maye will get some effective minutes at 4 too. Different team this season that doesn't need an emergency 4 except in strategic situations! I believe JJ, JB, and TP will increase their scoring and the first 2 will increase their 3 pt %. I think Britt will get some 2 play but will be primarily a second unit PG. I admittedly find Roy hard to anticipate some times, but this is fun to debate this with peeps that know what they are talking about.
