BREAKING: LeBron James’ 18 year old son Bronny James suffered cardiac arrest during a practice at USC and was rushed to the hospital where he spent time in the ICU. “(Monday) while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” the James family said in a statement. The family says Bronny is now in stable condition. “Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.” Praying for the James family

Just read an article that stated sudden cardiac arrest has been the leading cause of death in young athletes for the past several decades.

Not trying to speculate too much but without a firm diagnosis that is correctable by some sort of ablation treatment or medication his future with basketball is very unpredictable.
Hopefully, they can find the reasons for this event and assure he and his family it will be safe to compete.

My family will include the James family in our prayers! I pray Bronny is able to get back to basketball but more importantly, can live a full and long life!

Hopefully it was just some sort of energy drink or supplement that didn't agree with his body and not some sort of long term heart issue. Immediately thought about Hank Gathers and Reggie Lewis. Praying for this kid.

I hate it for the kid, no one should want this for a kid his age. I admit, I am not fan of Lebron but I hate this has happened to his son and do pray he recovers. Having a heart attack at his age it is hard for me to see him moving forward as a player and I really can not read about this and not wonder if he was vaxxed, sorry but I think that is a legit concern.

Depending on what they find. Lebron has a serious decision to make about his son's basketball future.

My understanding is that the vaccine can cause myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) but it is actually lower risk than if you get Covid itself. That would be a temporary risk and can be diagnosed and monitored so that if that is the case (Covid complication or Vaccine complication) the risk would be eliminated once the inflammation passes which is almost always does. That diagnosis is relatively easy to make at this time or rule out as well. The more concerning risk would be an abnormality in the conduction system which if diagnosed can be treated successfully with ablation cardiology techniques. Even more concerning would be some sort of congenital heart disease which the docs would also be able to identify after extensive testing and most likely treat. The problem is most concerning when you don't have a reason for this to have happened thus the risk of a repeat event is greater than say in anyone else.

Lack of energy drink or supplement would most likely have nothing to do with the cause of the problem but could increase the risks of the underlying condition causing a rhythm problem.

Hopefully the docs can find the cause, treat the condition, and determine any future risk is no greater than the average player so he can reach his dreams. We are all a extra heart beat occurring at the precise wrong time from suffering cardiac arrest. It sounds like the staff at USC did a fantastic job and were prepared for any such event. Hats off to staff!

AEDs are a miracle device and should be mandatory in all places people gather! All public schools in NC have multiple ones and train peeps in their use! We used one 2 years ago to re-start a 14 year olds heart who had no history of heart issues to that point! Bronny is so blessed he is a student now and not back in the day when all they had was CPR!
