Brown Hears the Noise and He's Okay With it

Hw heard it at Texas too, and he also did not care then either. As I have said all along, Mack learned nothing from being rightly run off by Texas. Mack is supreme ego. He is more than a little narcissistic. The odds are huge that he will never show the decent to step aside gracefully. He will need to be run off before he again takes UNC its rock bottom, which he did his first 2 years at UNC. That time, he did have youth on his side, and he was able to eventually get the ship righted - and then he left for the biggest money offered him. Now, age means he is already out of time to rebuild beyond what we have seen.

if it wasn't so pathetic and if I had any sense of humor about it left, I'd get a chuckle out of him trying to deflect criticism away from the players and towards him when no criticism has been directed at anyone BUT him. He has failed the players even more than he has failed the fans, and now he tries to act all magnanimous in not blaming them for his failures.

They need to put fannies in the seats at Kenan. No fannies is what will cause the PTB to act and the only thing that will cause them to act. I feel like a traitor of some sort saying this, but I hope no one comes to any more games.

That is a terrible position, and the UNC Admin always gets back to putting us in that position. Bunting should have beenfired after his 3rd year - no question. But he was an alum and seemed cuddly and basketball boosters were all fine with him. So they kept him. His ws then saved by that fluke W over a Top 5 Miami team. At the time,. Steve Spurrier was wanting b ack on college coaching and had said that he would do so only in the southeast. He had spoken favorably of UNC.

I wanted Bunting to succeed, if for no other reason than that if he was successful, a team of horses couldn't have pulled him away from here. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, but it was almost worth it all because of that Miami game. It wasn't just because we beat a highly-ranked team, or that attending the game was a gas...I predicted a win even before the season started and one of the factors was that we had a bye week before the game. And Bunting did well with games after bye weeks. ( I digress, but other factors were that they would take us lightly and would need a break after coming up to play NC State the week before. State would lose but I knew they would play a physical game and take a toll on Miami in that sense.. Also, we were young, and younger players improve at a faster rate than more experienced ones do, so I knew we would be much better by the time that game rolled around.)

That Miami game represented what UNC football should be. Bunting was a great Tar Heel but what some of us want and expect to have is a great program.

I remember Spurrier's name being kicked around some but there were just as many calling BS on the possibility as there were saying maybe. There was a lot of sentiment against him because of that infamous incident when dook beat us at Kenan but I would have swept that under the rug. What might have been boggles the mind.
