Caleb Wilson Coming to North Carolina This Weekend

While it may appear that UNC doesn't have adequate NIL funding to attract multiple 5-star recruits right now, I wouldn't count them out just yet. The NIL scene is changing fast, and UNC's been working on stepping up their game with CAROLINA NIL.

Plus, don't forget about the potential impact of big-name alumni like Michael Jordan. If someone like MJ decided to make a hefty donation to UNC's NIL collective, it could be a total game-changer overnight. Even a fraction of what he's given to other causes could put UNC's NIL fund on par with or ahead of many competitors.

So yeah, UNC might face some challenges now, but things can shift real quick in the NIL world. One big donor or smart move could turn everything around. As Yogi Berra famously said, “It ain't over until it's over.”

Another factor to consider is "donor fatigue," which is becoming an increasingly important concern in college sports NIL funding. In the case of UNC, where football receives more NIL donations despite basketball's greater success, I wouldn’t be shocked to hear that some UNC football-specific donors might shift some or all of their donations to the basketball program.
