What's your thought on this.I like his game he can really shoot the ball well.Either way i see him averaging around 12 ppg this season.

Cameron Johnson will start. Barring an injury, I see our starting 5 (opening game) a little differently :

Berry
Johnson
Pinson
Maye
Manley

Billy, I would love to see Manley get the start at the 5.

But I could easily see Roy going with KW over Johnson to start the season.

Starters should be
Berry
Felton
Pinson
Maye
Brooks

Next 5
Woods
Williams
Robinson
Johnson
Huffman

But that's just my opinion & our HOF coach never text me & ask what I think. Guess I'll just cheer on whatever Ol Roy decides to do.

that second 5 with good back ups could win some games maybe go .500 for the season..

FWIW, I would go with these starting 5 with (relievers):

Berry (Woods)
Felton (Pinson, Williams, Robinson, Platek)
Johnson (Pinson, Maye, Robinson)
Brooks (Maye)
Huffman (Manley)

I would like to have Pinson as a starter, but unless he develops better ball handling and a more reliable shot, he will be coming off the bench. Love Pinson, but if he wants to play at the next level, he must become better at these two skills.

With our lack of inside experience I would think you have to start Cam and Pinson to at least create length on the defensive end of the court plus Cam provides solid offense with his ability to hit jump shots. Felton if all reports keep on being he is a stud will prolly be the 6th man, and KW because he can extend the defense will be the 6th man if we are have scoring problems as Berry, Johnson and KW can all be legit three point treats at the same time.

I just have a feeling we will have to play so fast that playing time between Maye, Cam, Felton,KW, and Woods will all be about the same at the end of the day. Pinson and Berry are the only two guys I can see being on the court a huge amount of minutes. I can see us Hiding Maye at the Center position throughout games and Pinson seeing the PF position with Cam at the SF position more than people are thinking.

Our strenght will be in the versatility of Pinson to be honest he helps us play some really interesting line ups until our big men are ready.

Almost forgot Robinson if he develops some more can be just as versatile as Pinson because of his hard playing style. We have some problems, but create problems for other teams also.

IMHO, Theo is better off the bench as a playmaker, energy maker and momentum swinger. He has not demonstrated that he is a good shooter from 2, 3 or the free throw line. Again, if he can handle the ball better and improve his shooting from all distances, then he deserves to start. Time will tell. Here are Theo's numbers from Yahoo:

I think it would be in our best interest to start Cam Johnson, as he can more readily offset the loss of Justin Jackson than anyone else can. He along with Berry, Theo, Luke and Huffman/Brooks will probably be the starting five. I believe Jalek will get significant minutes as will Robinson and 7th. KW might be the odd man out despite being a junior.

There is no scenario in which Theo doesn't start. None. He is our best passer, a strong rebounder (especially on the defensive end) and next to Berry, our best ball handler. He's a plus defender and is probably our most likely guy to beat his man off the dribble. His height and length on the perimeter on both ends of the floor make him a must start. On the scoring end, he allows Berry to spot up. And now with Cam as another shooter and hopefully Williams too, Pinson's ability to start the offense up top is critical. I haven't even mentioned his energy, hustle and leadership. And oh yeah, he's a senior. Again, no chance he comes off the bench and I'm thankful for that.

IMO, the most likely starting 5 for the first game in November is:

Berry
Williams
Pinson
Maye
Huffman

I think Kenny gets a chance at the 2. He'll have to hit shots. But Roy loves his defense and I think Roy would rather not start a transfer right out of the gate - especially with all the hoopla around Cam's situation. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Cam become the starter at some point. He'll get plenty of time either way.

Huffman is my pick to start in the middle. Brooks is the better scorer but if he starts, who backs up Maye. Neither Huffman or Manley can play the 4 and I think Huffman is more ready than Manley because of his aggressive nature and apparent strength. He's a better athlete than Manley and probably in better shape. I'll admit though that my guess on the center position is a shot in the dark.

With the amount of scoring that left he will need to avg at least 15ppg. With most of our firepower on the wing who knows. Maybe be can bust out for 16-18ppg.

I see KW getting the start over CJ but I would not be surprised if this lineup was standard after Jan 1st.

Think we lost too much scoring not to start a scorer with experience.

Unless Felton is a kid who can drop 15 right off the bat... I don't know if he is...

"He has great length and is very athletic. Pinson can also get to the rim on most defenders. In order to truly be a dominant player, he needs to become more consistent with his jumper and also improve his ball-handling ability."

I am a big Theo fan, but I have yet to see any major improvements in these two flaws in his game as mentioned in this 2013 article. And despite the circle-the-wagon fans of Theo on this forum, there are valid reasons why he was not invited to the NBA Draft Combine. Right now, he doesn't have 1st or 2nd round NBA Draft skills. That's what the NBA scouts have stated loud and clear.

Whether they start or not, I think we will see this lineup on the court on multiple occasions, & though small, it will possibly be our best lineup.

Either Felton or Johnson is starting at the 2.

Our lineup should be either...

Berry
Felton/Johnson
Pinson
Maye
Brooks

Or

Berry
Felton
Johnson
Pinson
Brooks

Roy will do his usual thing and tinker with the lineup the first half of the season. Because of his defense, Kenny will probably start initially. But if he doesn't prove he can consistently make threes, Jalek or Cam will eat into his time. We can't afford lack of offense from the SG spot next year. We have too much scoring to replace.

My guess is Pinson will be the backup at the 4 in a small lineup with Cameron Johnson at the 3 with Brooks/Huffman splitting time at the 5 (spot minutes for Manley).

If Roy does find a way to "steal" minutes with Maye at the 5, I hope that we are playing zone.

Roy will have a ton of options due to the versatility of our players. Theo, CJ, Brandon, and Jalek can all play multiple positions. I am really looking forward to the season and watching Roy build this team.

We are the Champions.

Good post, I agree with pretty much all of it.

Agree, no way Pinson does not start. It should not even be up for debate.
Both Theo and Cam will play starter minutes. Whether both start, who knows? Probably.

I see Cam playing most if not all of his minutes at SF, whereas Theo could spread his minutes across SG, SF and PF, depending on what the team needs.

If Theo does spread his minutes across 3 positions, it might make sense to have him come off the bench, when we see where he is needed most. In which case, I would probably start Kenny. Giving us something like this.

Joel (Seventh, Jalek)
Kenny (Theo, Jalek, Brandon, Seventh, Andrew)
Cam (Theo, Brandon)
Luke (Theo, Garrison)
Huff (Garrison, Sterling)

With Joel, Theo and Cam playing 30 minutes or more, even if Theo doesn't start. And Garrison probably playing more than Huff, even if he doesn't start.

Playing a lot of press would mean more minutes for secondary players to give Joel, Theo and Cam more breathing time. This could be a perfect pressing team - especially if we have a good rim protector. So I hope Roy tries that.

My brain hurts at all the possible combos coach will experiment with and the inevitable negative reactions from poasters in here who somehow will manage to be surprised by it.
I always love it when certain posters start screaming for so-and-so to be nailed to the bench and for Roy to trim the playing roster to 7 or 8. Like that ever happens. You'd think they'd learn. Especially when they start clamoring for a short bench in November or December.
