OK, had to post this after the “Can we win the Coastal” thread after week one. Great game though tonight and the future is bright. It’s fun to be winning football games again.

I for one am interested to see what kind of fight we put up. I expect us to get beat, and if the punt game is as bad as it has been the first two weeks then we’ll get beat by 45.

Can we yes now will we probably not but I’ve told my son (well stepson) we coming for them so get ready. I don’t think he’s scared.

When did we play them last? Was it the ACC CH Game?

As far as the question in the OP... I highly doubt it. In order for UNC to win, the Heels would have to play their best game, and Clemson would play their worst... and, even then, some magnanimous luck would also have to fall in our laps. Clemson plays on a completely different level. They could easily go undefeated again and win the championship again, as long as they don't play Alabama again.

After these last two wins, I'm starting to believe that anything is possible, but Clemson is the number 1 team and the defending national champ for a reason....I hope that we can stay relatively healthy before and after that matchup with the Tigers because this team does have a legitimate chance to win the Coastal now, and play the Tigers again in Charlotte later this season for the ACC title....Steel sharpens steel and playing the Tigers twice in the same season is exactly what this young team needs moving forward....

Answer no!, But Clemson doesn't look like champions just yet on offense, but UNC is definitely headed in the right direction.

The Heels don't have the depth to hang with Clemson. I'm thinking 45-13 Tigers.

I'm hoping the Heels can be 4-2 after Ga. Tech. That would be a great start to the season.

Clemson would have to beat Clemson. Crazier things have happened. A sprained thumb to Lawrence would be a start

Wake Forest on the road next is the question I have. Great start, but no way that Wake is a gimme.

Clemson was the only team that I wrote an L down for us going into the season. I believe all the other games are up for grabs.

We have to do a better job of wrapping up at the point of attack... I know we should've had about 10 sacks and 20 tackles behind the line.

Funny thing happened during the ticker feed during the Browns Titans game.

It should Clemson ranked 1st and UNC ranked 10th as playing each other with both Carolina Panthers logos. It had Clemson up 45-37.

Weird glitch???

Again, we are a pick'em @ Wake this Saturday. That is THE ONLY game/team that deserves any attention at the moment regarding who we could beat? !!!!!!!

I don’t think speculation on a message board is going to distract the players and coaches from properly preparing for wake.
I agree the players won't be affected, but I think it is ludicrous for the fan base to even be concerned with it. Literally a pick 'em game this week at Wake. That is the who "can we beat" question logically. THE only pressing question. Clemson ?????????

Sure, but they’re not mutually exclusive and I’m pretty sure this thread was started in jest. How we play against clemson is the ultimate measuring stick because they are the best program in college football. So I understand the curiosity/speculation about how the team will perform against them.

Start up a thread about the wake game and I’m more than down to talk about this week too.

I doubt we beat them, but I really didn't think we would be 2-0 right now either. We have them at Kenan and it will be packed. Stranger things have happened like them losing to Pitt and Syracuse. Play the game and we'll see.

Maybe down the line they are the measuring stick. Not this year. I think Wake on the road after two huge wins as a underdog is a solid measuring stick for this year. The how do we stack up with Clemson is not the measuring stick this year, but I would be thrilled if we get by Wake and App. State to get after them in week 5.

I meant the long term measuring stick. If the goal is to eventually win a national championship then clemson is the measuring stick for that. If they beat us by three touchdowns then we know approximately how much better we need to get be on that level in a few years.

If we beat wake then that is a good metric for what to expect for this year so I agree there. Wake is better than App so if we beat them then we should be 4-0 going into clemson if we take care of business

Carolina has gotten off to a better start than most figured, but let's keep it in context with the talent on hand. Can this team go to a bowl and possibly compete for the division? I'd say yes. But can this team play with Clemson? Not a chance. If UNC plays their A game and Clemson plays their D game, Clemson still wins by double digits. It's all about talent. And right now Clemson is head and shoulders above anybody in the conference in that area.

Every year since Clemson became a title contender they have had a close call or a loss with a team they should have crushed. Not saying that will happen with us, but if they play a D game vs our A game then they aren't going to win by double digits. But maybe we have a different definition of a D game. For me that means multiple turnovers, dumb penalties and struggling on both offense and defense.

I mean sure it’s mathematically possible but realistically no we have no shot. I’d almost rather just sit irreplaceable guys like Crawford, Stow, Fox, Heck, and Tucker and make sure we’re healthy for the remainder of the schedule.

this is true.

the real question is: can ANYBODY beat clemson?
Not in the ACC. A handful of the usual suspects can compete with them nationally. For some reason Syracuse has given Clemson issues the last couple of years. But after Syracuse got abused by Maryland last week, I don't see that happening this year. Clemson just has so much more talent than anyone else in the conference that I just don't see a possible upset on the table.

This goes against everything I believe in sports. Not only does it send the message that you’re afraid, it also says you don’t have any faith in your team. Not the message we want to send to our team or fans.

Is a victory unlikely? Yes. Do we concede victory before the game is even played?

Hell to the no!

According to the power football index, Heels have ~7% chance, so we got that going for us.

Regarding resting players, I'm sure everyone of those guys would be pissed if the coaches did that. I'm sure they welcome the challenge of competing against the best, even though the odds of winning are small.
