CAROLINA ANNOUNCES SPRING FOOTBALL EVENTS

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina will conduct 15 spring football practices over the course of six weeks in March and April, and will hold public scrimmages on March 28 in Chapel Hill and April 11 in Charlotte.

Carolina will not have a traditional Spring Game in Chapel Hill due to ongoing repairs to the Kenan Stadium playing surface. UNC is replacing an aging storm water drain pipe, which is located under the field and extends from one end zone to the other.

The open scrimmage on March 28 will be held at the Navy Practice Field at 10 a.m. Following the scrimmage, fans are encouraged to attend the UNC baseball game vs. Miami at 3 p.m. at adjacent Boshamer Stadium.

The open scrimmage in Charlotte on Saturday, April 11 is set for 1 p.m. at Rocky River High School.

"We always enjoy practicing and scrimmaging in front of our fans and we're looking forward to th e start of spring practice," said head coach Larry Fedora who enters his fourth season at UNC. "Certainly, we would love to play our Spring Game at Kenan Stadium, but the playing surface will not be ready in time to have our traditional scrimmage. The open scrimmages in Chapel Hill and Charlotte are great opportunities for our fans to experience how we practice and prepare for the upcoming season."

A new grass playing surface will be installed at Kenan Stadium in time for UNC's spring commencement ceremony in May.
