North Carolina will begin the 2016 baseball season ranked No. 16 in the country by D1Baseball, the organization announced Tuesday. The Tar Heels, who will seek a spot in the NCAA tournament for the 16th time under head coach Mike Fox, are one of six programs from the Atlantic Coast Conference listed among the nation's top 25 teams.
UNC will open the 2016 campaign on Feb. 19 with the first of a three-game series at No. 11 UCLA. The Tar Heels will then return to Chapel Hill to host No. 8 Oklahoma State for three games beginning Feb. 26. In all, eight Carolina opponents are in the preseason top 25 - No. 2 Louisville, No. 6 Miami, No. 8 OSU, No. 10 NC State, No. 11 UCLA, No. 13 Virginia, No. 17 South Carolina and No. 24 Coastal Carolina.
