Problem solved lolSo let me get this straight. A&M gets blown out by Alabama, but they still jump an undefeated Washington team.

You will never see a playoff game on campus. At the end of the day this is about money for the NCAA, not crowning a champion. You can't max out the money on a college campus. It's funny how the 3 SEC teams that were propped-up, and rewarded with higher than expected rankings in their first poll, all lost yesterday, and Auburn was lucky they didn't lose to Vanderbilt...Auburn will now probably move up in the rankings whether they deserve too or not, thanks to the Committee's perceived view that the SEC it soooooo tough...lol?
Both Texas A&M and Flordia lost to unranked SEC foes on the road, and LSU was shutout by Bama.....Alabama is really the only team in the SEC that deserves any recognition, and they are NOT unbeatable either IMO because they have a freshman QB running things!
Just don't agree that an 8-team playoff would hurt OOC scheduling?..... And I just get tired of all the Media Bias and quite obviously the Committee bias in favor of the SEC, and was glad to see Florida, LSU and especially Texas A&M who I thought all along was overrated, but got credit for playing Alabama a close first half in Tuscaloosa...
The incentive to play a tough OOC schedule would be paramount in determining whether your team gets one of the top 4 berths and a home playoff game too boot in an 8-team playoff format, and should still be one of the main data points for any future playoff selection committee....
Still don't see how a regular season would be hurt by expanding the playoffs to 8....If nothing else, you would think that it would make it better because teams that are NOT favored to win their conference, still have a chance to make the playoffs as a Wildcard team....How many times in the past have we seen a team lose a star player early in the season only to regroup, and have an outstanding year with NO hope of playing for a title....An 8-team playoff would give that type of team an opportunity to win a title when they are playing their best football at the end of the season....Right now, who wants to watch the SEC because it's Alabama and everybody else....If a Wildcard spot were available, fans might watch more of the league to find out if another team could earn a spot in the playoff as a Wildcard entry?..Although, even that would be a long shot based on yesterday's results?
Imagine the buildup to an 8-team playoff with quarterfinal saturday with 2 games during the day, and 2 games in primetime, so the whole country would at least get to see a playoff game in primetime...Finish up all the meaningless bowl games prior to the start of the quarterfinals which would always be played on the saturday closest to New Year's Day with the Semifinals the following weekend and the Championship game a couple weeks after that, so teams could heal up before the Finals....
If Atheletes can make it through a grueling 6 playoff games for College Basketball, why can't college atheletes who play football make it through half that many to win a title especially if the first round were played at the home sites of the top 4 teams?
Do you think any of the current 4 CFP teams(Washington, Ala,Clemson, or Mich) would want any part of Louisville or Ohio State prior to any Semifinal matchup?....Yet, we as fans would get that type of matchup in the first round of an 8-team playoff, and I don't think we would hear the complaints that we are hearing now in regards to bias....
As mentioned above, there's NO need to go beyond an 8 team playoff, and the current system is already setup to accomodate that change as the Committee is already selecting the teams for the New Year's 6 as they call them along with the selection of the 4 playoff teams....
The Group of 5 Champ would not earn a home playoff game under this setup, but they would earn a spot to the playoffs, which I think most would gladly take....The #1 & #2 seeds would get the 2 Wildcards, while the 3 seed would get Group of 5 champ with two P-5 champions going against each other in a 4 vs 5 matchup, which this year would likely be a trip for Oklahoma to Washington for a first round matchup, while Wildcards Louisville would travel to Alabama and Ohio State would travel to Clemson.... Current Group of 5 Champ Western Michigan would make the trip across state to Ann Arbor to face the Wolverines in a game that would captivate the whole state of Michigan...
More playoff teams = More Regional and National eyes that would be watching, and the money would be incredible!
Instead, we have a subjective committee to decide which P-5 Conference Champion or Champions are not worthy of making the current 4-team playoffs?
How in the world can that be better than an 8-team playoff where every team has to earn their way, regardless of what anybody likes or doesn't like about them?
Guess we'll have to wait and see how Condolesa Rice votes to know which teams make the playoffs or not, this year?
And to me, that sucks!

But the NCAA does not control the football postseason as it does the NCAA basketball tournament. The Power 5 (or 4 if the Big 12 implodes) leagues can make the playoffs 8 with the 1st round on campuses, and the NCAA will have to pound sand. You will never see a playoff game on campus. At the end of the day this is about money for the NCAA, not crowning a champion. You can't max out the money on a college campus.

Ya the 8 team playoff is cool in theory, but those two at large teams would just be SEC teams every year. Maybe the CFP committee will ask for an extension before they have to submit their next rankings until they can figure out how to slide Auburn all the way up to 4 now.

Florida State*Only ranked one spot behind the Miami team that we beat. Cool
One thing I have said since they announced this 4 team playoff is the first year either the SEC or Big Ten does not get a team in is the year that league goes into overdrive to expand the payoffs to 8. Another thing I have said is that the first year either the SEC or BT get 2 teams in the playoff is the year the other goes whole hog to either expand the playoffs to 8 or to restrict the playoffs to 1 team per conference.Right now there are two big ten teams in there, Michigan and Ohio State. Obviously one of them will lose at least one more game since they haven't played each other yet. Assuming the loser of that game drops out of the top four would Louisville move up to #4 or would a one loss Pac 12 champ Washington jump Louisville for the last spot?
